Default Holiday Hot Toddy type drinks?

The Martini post remindes me....

Ok your basic Hot toddy is tea Brandy lemon honey. I had something similiar at a party last Christmas that I really liked. Can't remember the ingredients but I think it was Apple Cider, cinnamen (sp?) stick, and either rum or brandy.

Anyone have any favorite hot drink recipies (sp?) they want to share? Can't seem to spell today. Looking for something different for a Christmas Party for Saturday.

I tried drinking Gin to be like Bogie, but just couldn't get it down. Must be an aquired taste...

LI,
Change the white wine to red. It does taste better and adds color.

Thanks Skeeter

That's a great site. I guess the web really does have everything. Just I need a thousand more ways to get alcohol into my body. There is a tequila/cider drink that sounds interesting.....

My wife has a recipe for Hot Buttered Rum mix that is made with ice cream and butter. Even if you don't but Rum in it, perish the thought, it's wonderful to just put on a spoon and eat. I'll get the recipe this weekend and try to get in on this site. It's really good with a good Rum and hot water and nutmeg.

Hard to beat WILD TURKEY over ice no matter what the season

I know this is not a "hot" drink but to me it is only second to a good Martini

The best hot buttered rum recipe I've had is:
equal parts vanilla ice cream, brown sugar and butter. You can just eat it with a spoon but it is very rich, needs the rum and hot water to tone it down!

Here is the recipe I was talking about:

One quart soft vanilla ice cream
One pound softened butter
One pound brown sugar
One pound white sugar
One teaspoon cinnamon
One teaspone nutmeg

Mix all together and chill. One or two spoons with rum and hot water and sprinkle with nutmeg. Boattommy is right, almost as good just eating it without all the other stuff.

LI

Another Hot Butta recipe that my cousin and I make for football games and now my friends love is as follows. Heat apple cider (preferably cider and not juice), mulling spices (nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, orange peel you can make your own or buy premade) in a pot and bring up to almost a boil and add a stick of butter ( I personally dont add that much, more like a 3 tbl spoons but to each their own), fill your favorite mug with rum (I like the Captain) leave room for hot cider (how much depends on you), fill remainder with cider and enjoy.

Happy Holidays

Anybody got a good hot cider recipe?
Simple.....pour a tall mug of Cider (leave room for the rum), heat it real hot in the microwave.....

Take it out, add as much rum as you can fit, stir, ENJOY!

I personally like Captain Morgan Spiced Rum in my cider
