Default Wife passed the US Customs Brokers Exam

My wife just opened here Customs letter, she didnt want to read it and when she did she couldnt believe it and had me reread it to her.
Apparently only 1% of the people pass the test on their first attempt. I know she spent 6 months of nights and weekends studying for this test.
I knew all along she could pass it, she just didnt believe it herself.
Now starts the licenseing process, which could take a year.
Very proud husband I am tonight, all the time for that matter.

What is a Customs broker?

Customs brokers are private individuals, partnerships, associations or corporations licensed, regulated and empowered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to assist importers and exporters in meeting Federal requirements governing imports and exports. Brokers submit necessary information and appropriate payments to CBP on behalf of their clients and charge them a fee for this service.

Brokers must have expertise in the entry procedures, admissibility requirements, classification, valuation, and the rates of duty and applicable taxes and fees for imported merchandise.

There are approximately 11,000 active licensed Customs brokers in the United States.

Yes it is pretty demanding and alot of accountability goes along with it. With all the Homeland Security Regulations and certifications it is constantly evolving.

Before any appeals start it was 11% nationally that passed the exam. I am really proud of her. She has worked in the industry for 20 years, and studied for almost 7 months.
