Default Ebay/pay pal rant

Used to use Ebay a lot but, it has become too much of a pia. And when you get the bill from Ebay and paypal....might as well give the stuff away.

I had Paypal trying to take the same 850 out of my account like 6 times after they took it the first time. I closed the account and will not use Paypal again.

They stated that they could not control the computer from continuing to try and take the money over and over even though the seller had the money and I had the merchandise (camera lens).

FU PayPal

Cost me a day off from work and two weeks to get my $3800 back. (emptied account)

craigs list - cash only for me when selling! When buying, you just really need to watch all the prices.

I buy and sell a lot of stuff on eBay, and as a seller, the eBay & PayPal charges are now around 10% once everything's done. So when I sell something I now put a blurb in the item description requesting a Bank Cashiers Check as it saves both me and the buyer PayPal charges.

But doesn't that exempt you from any protection? Not that it's all that great, but supposedly PP offers fraud protection.
I buy and sell alot of stuff here...I am always asked if I take PP. No way am I going to pay a 10% fee.

Well yes, as a buyer there is no protection. Neither the eBay or PayPal charges are 10%, but if you are selling and you add the eBay and PP charges together, you're at 10%.

I used to do a lot of business on ebay/paypal...no more. I think they have done their own selves a disservice...

I notice that some sellers now are charging outrageous shipping for small items. I figured they were doing that because there is no fee for the shipping cost, and the buyers are supposed to factor the high shipping into their bids. I think they are giving people way too much credit, and most will not figure it out, and just not bid.

I've had it with eBay and PayPal attitudes toward froud coverage, fees, and what people are doing with shipping charges. I try and use Google Checkout for purchase and make sure if I use a card it goes as a Credit -- NOT a debit. At least then I can rant at bank and get money back quickly.

I'm with you guys. E-Bay has gone down hill since I opened my account with them years ago. It's a hard pill for me to swallow, me giving them such a large percentage of MY sale. Granted, they do have a huge exposure & I have sold tons of stuff that I otherwise wouldn't have gotten as much for but I just don't like their greediness. Especially since they almost force a transaction to be used with pay pal.

I boycotted Ebay/Paypal a while back, tired of the ridiculous fees on both sides.

I agree, Paypal and Ebay both suck now, as a seller you are now at a huge disadvantage, the buyer has all the control and then some, and they often work the system.

The Ebay fee structure is changing, I think in July, they are going to charge a fee on shipping too. So the seller will have to "chip in" for shipping, right after USPS raised rates!!! That being said, it has got to cost more than 10 % to rent, stock and keep a store....and hope someone wanders in... On Ebay ypu get buyers from all over.I have sold to 16 countries!!! Ebay is not perfect, but is the best around.....

For ease of use its still going to be hard to beat. Even with the added fee's prices on there are so much lower than local.
Had two banners shipped in for the race trailer last week. Local and the guy that lettered the trailer wanted 90 dollars for one banner. Got it on ebay for 24 dollars and could not be happier with the way it turned out. Other one was 39 dollars but I changed a lot of lettering on it from its orginial form or what the guy had on it to start with.
You have to pay attention on e bay but its the one stop shop for anything and everything most of us will ever use or need on smaller idems.
