Default question for computer guys

http://www.amazon.com/Type-Male-Cabl...4518650&sr=8-4

What happens if you take a M/M cable like the one in the link above and connect it to two different USB ports on the same computer? I'm too scared to try it, though I kind of have a feeling nothing will happen. Anyone ever let curiosity get the better of them and tried this?

My guess would be that nothing would happen, since you are connecting pin 1 to pin 1 as well as pin 4 to pin 4. In order to make a 5v circuit (the outer two pins on a usb) there would need to be some connection from pin 1 (+5v) to ground (pin 4). The same would go for the data pins.

Even if you connect it to another pc, nothing will happen till you load the right drivers to create a shared network.

USB also carries a power supply. I'd worry about a short-circuit.
