Default Bluetooth rant

I cannot believe the number of people I see driving new cars, like Mercedes, BMWs, Volvos ect and they are holding their cell phones talking on them. I am sure these cars have Bluetooth, what possible reason could they have for not using it? many are doing the center console slump with the cell phone in their hand, even my base Tundra has Bluetooth with steering wheel controls.
pathetic idiots

I don't know, I have an '06, '07, '08 and a 2011 vehicle. Never had a blue tooth option. I've found exactly 1 blue tooth headset that works for me and its a two ear setup which is actually illegal as well. Not sure which ticket is worse, at two ear headset or not using one!

The bigger problem is people not knowing how to multitask, nor knowing how to use their cruise control. The CC is a bigger pet peeve of mine.

Forgive me if I've posted this elsewhere on THT, but it bears repeating. At least I find it somewhat amusing.

I bought a bluetooth keyboard for my iMac. I couldn't sync it. I finally called Tech Support at Macally. No problem, just that the manual must have been written by someone whose native language either wasn't English, or else he/she has no common sense. It said to type in the 8 numbers displayed, but there was no field in which to type them, plus the "in process" gear kept spinning. Yep. Just type the numbers in. They won't show, but just do it. The next step was to "type the key to the right of the left-hand shift key". They could have just said, type a "z" ; the third step was to "type the key to the left of the right hand shift key". Not type the "/" key.

The bluetooth mouse that Apple provides with the iMac syncs the first time you just click it. TaDa.

2007 Rav & 2011 Ridgeline both came with bluetooth standard. It took me all of 2 minutes to sync each vehicle with my iPhone

Take a look at this link and you can figure out why they asked you to press the key to the right of the left hand shift key...

http://www.forlanglab.lsu.edu/exams/...rdLayouts.aspx

...and they say Americans don't think globally.

Then just display a diagram of a blank keyboard and highlight the key in red or blue or black. Like, IKEA-style - no words are necessary.
Of course, all the instructions are IN ENGLISH.

Because the sound quality BLOWS.

Real hands free like OnStar, etc., works great, but bluetooth sound quality BLOWS.

If I call you and you are in yer car using bt, I can tell right away, and I hang up if you won't ditch it.

Bluetooth sound quality BLOWS.

I would say if you have a VCR, its just as bad as not being able to set it. ITS 2011!!!

But in regards to bluetooth, get yourself a Motorolla T505, it syncs with bluetooth, connects to your stereo, lets you play Pandora/MP3s over your stereo, sounds great, works great on the boat (you don't need to answer your phone with bait all over your hands), and its only $50 at newegg.com. I don't have bluetooth and I will not pay $3k for a tech package for a new car (my garmin 4808 was 3k, and that came with a radar dome.)

I just put the Blackberry on speaker phone and set it on the dash. The only Bluetooth I have is on the GPS and sound quality sucks.

I don't encounter it much, but I do have a coupla friends (yes, it's true) who always answer with it just to hack me off.

Speaker phone is another peeve - I won't hang around long for that.

Damn, I must be a curmudgeon.

I got it for the 1st time on my 2011 Chevy but my old man got it in his 2009 Tahoe and we both love it. I use it all the time and most can't tell unless the windows are down or my radar detector goes off.
