Default Mail Video Rental Services

Has anyone used these? I understand you order by mail - can have 3 at a time , you get free pre-paid return mailers, there are no late fees, and can keep as long as you want for a fixed monthly fee.

We are currently using the Hollywood $15/month MVP thing. We have no premium cable and this is how we watch movies. The only downside is that there are late fees after 5 days, and you can't get the newest releases but with the mail programs you can, I think.

Any/all recommendations and comments welcomed!!

We tried Netflix a couple of years ago and it worked great. Only problem is with the mail service, it seems "too" slow while you are waiting for the new DVDs. If a person watches a number of DVDs during the week, it's significantly less expensive than the stores in town. I don't currently use the service since my wife and I don't watch that many DVDs but I would suggest that you try it for a month or two.

I've been using Netflix for about a year now.

I think they're great -- one tip -- I'm not sure if they're still offering it, but I decided to quit, since managing 3 movies at a time was a hassle. They turned around and said, 'how about 2 movies out for $14.99?" Deal. That's the plan I've been with ever since. When I could have *3* movies out, it seemed like every time I turned around, I was having to add movies to my queue and/or manage it!!

Recently they opened a center in Charlotte NC, and now the turn around is 3 days or so.

I don't subscribe to any premium cable channels, and we were previously renting at BlockBuster, which was expensive and a hassle returning movies. This way, I figure we average 2 movies a week (sometimes less, since both my wife and I are busy and work), but say 8 movies for under $2 ea, with no late fees or more work to return than walking to the mailbox.

The other nice thing is the catalog -- the new releases *might* be a couple days behind BB, but that's no big deal, and Netflix DVD catalog is extensive -- we recently watched "I Claudius" over the course of a month. Very cool.

This is my second year on netflix, I cancel it during boating season and restart it in October. No penalties for canceling. This year its $3 cheaper a month than last year. I live in RI and there main wharehouse is in MA, so I usually get dvds in 2 days. I believe they opened other wharehouses in different parts of the country, to help with faster shipping. I think its a good deal if you like to watch movies.

I recently started with netflix. Not that I condone this, but "a friend of mine" has been copying the dvds as they come in and returning them the next day. This way, "my friend," can get a large stack of them and watch them whenever. It's also a lot more bang for the buck, since "he" gets and returns about 20 movies per month. Two free dvd programs (dvd decrypter and dvd shrink), a bunch of blank dvd- discs (dvd- is the most compatible), and a dvd burner on the computer make this possible.

I've been on Netflix for over a year and I'm very happy with the service. I changed because of the Blockbuster late fees.

We did it, Netflix, for about 8 months. I had a problem with the mail too. Now that I read
here that they opened 2 more dropships in NC I may reconsider. They also changed the rates. Now its 17.99/month. The tightwad in me figured 6.5 movies /month at 21.99 based on 3.50/movie. The 17.99/month is better, obviously. I wish I bought thier stock 18 months ago!
