Default NCAA Hypocrisy

Bowl game revenues are more important than doing the right thing.

Case in point.......Cam Newton and the Ohio State 5 (actually 6).

What a joke ruling by the NCAA.

Money is king to them.

Newsflash - this is very old news. The NCAA has been all about money since the invention of money.

At least they stopped running those commercials hailing themselves and the 'student athlete'. Gawd, I wanted to shoot my TV every time.

Ohio State is trying to convince us that the kids promised to come back next season and sit out the games. If the kids had said they where going to enter this year's draft the school would have held them out of the bowl game. Best part about it is that they said that with a straight face

No doubt about it. This is exactly what I was referring to in a different thread that was about bowl selections. OSU suspensions are timed for the best interest of the bcs and ncaa. Pretend like they mean business with their penalties, but don't stand to lose a nickel on bowl revenue with the draw from the OSU fan base.

OSUdaddy,
Your powers of deduction are exceeded only by your affection for the obvious.

That one made my mouth drop open, AJ Green had to sit out his games THIS YEAR as well as the others from UNC and USC.

NCAA is full of SHIT, if I had been UGA and other teams I would have them in court

Oh come on.. You're upset about this?

"The NCAA determined that the players sold memorabilia and/or received discounted rates for tattoos in 2009. The transgressions violated NCAA rules that prevent student-athletes from receiving any benefits that would not be available to other students."

http://msn.foxsports.com/collegefoot...nalysis-010411

Who cares? Don't they already receive benefits not available to other students? Free school, travel all over the place, their own expensive facilities etc etc.

Furthermore, the BCS is profiting from the bowl not the NCAA (and no they aren't the same thing).
