Default Ipod Speaker Dock

A little early Christmas gift from my gf was an Ipod Touch. I'm now wondering about docking stations that can be plugged in and also portable for when i'm grilling or entertaining outside. I think the Bose sound dock has this option but was wondering if anyone has tried any other brands that still may sound good. Merry Christmas and thanks in advance.

I bought "The Pipe" at Target. Made by Skull Candy.
Small, inexpensive, and sounds great.

We just got an "iHome" for christmas. It sounds really good. It also has a ten hour battery life, although we haven't had time to charge it up yet. See no reason it shouldn't sound just as good at a picnic, if you like that kind of thing. I rarely play music outside the house or workshop, but that's just me.

We were at the beach this summer and someone had one that looked like a white bucket sounded really good don't remember the brand. Looked like was made for the beach, pool, boat.

Just bought myself the Bose Sounddock for Christmas. Pretty incredible sound, keeps the IPOD charged and is portable. Can take it out on the deck to the outdoor kitchen.

It would be better if it had some sort of volume indicator on it or allowed the IPOD voloume level to be shown, but other than that, it's great.

Along with a new I-Pod Touch, that was under the tree for my son.

I got this one for Christmas. We transferred a prescription and got a $25 gift certificate. For $45 bucks (it was on sale for $69), can't be beat.

Boombucket from Brookstone. Worked pretty good until the internal batteries died (non-user-servicable), returned within 1 year and it had been discontinued.

I've had the Bose Soundock for 2 years and it is incredible.

Yes, it runs on batteries or the power cord (supplied), and it also has a tiny iPod-ish remote.

Love mine... use it constantly.

On a similar but different (?) note, if you know of a guitarist who owns an iPod, you need to tell them about the Vox Amplug.

http://www.voxamps.com/us/amplug/

It's a tiny Vox amplifier that plugs into your guitar, and you then plug in headphones and your iPod. It allows you to play your guitar over songs on the iPod, all within the headphones. $40 on eBay. It's the smallest of my 3 Vox amps, but it's the one that gets used the most.

I have an iTower from the sharper Image. It's a big speaker and expensive but the sound it produces is unreal.
