Default Junk Mail Increasing?

The amount of junk mail I receive seems to be increasing the past two or three months beyond the normal holiday increase. Stores I never bought from, excessive amounts from stores I frequent, and increasing credit card offers. It gets old having to pitch so much in the recycle bin, unread. The USPS ought to increase the cost of bulk mail substantially to cover the cost of the resulting municipal recycling.

Are you getting more junk mail? I don't know if it means someone thinks the economy is picking up or reflects desperate sellers in a bad economy.

I did notice that. The credit card offers mostly.

It will be interesting to see whether the credit card companies dig themselves into the same bad debt hole as they did previously by issuing the cards indiscriminately.

I thought the govt. stopped some of that indiscriminate lending to teenagers. Although, I know a lot of adults that behave like that.

My wife and I get 10-20 pieces of mail from AMEX EVERY WEEK. Been going on for about the last 6 months. No exaggeration. I wouldn't do business with AMEX under any circumstances and was going to call them to try to get them to stop it but decided to let the idiots continue to waste their money.

I have a trash can and a paper shreader in my garage.

I doubt if 20% of the "mail" actually makes it into my house.

Often the bank credit card offers come with a self addressed pre-paid return envelope enclosed. I often stuff the envelope with whatever other junk that is handy and return it to them on their dime. After all it keeps the postal workers busy, and they get to pay first class rates for the return postage.
