Default Earth quake?? South east N.C. ??

Did anyone else feel the ground shake/tremble in South easteren N.C. Saturday afternoon? Several people I have talked to said they felt it also. I haven't heard anything about it on the area news . ;?

Yep, Friday and Saturday at Kure Beach. Probably a shallow quake off shore. Sounded like a bomb going off with a jolt right after.

Found this but couldn't find anything more recent. I though it was interesting though.

We feel, and hear, the "Seneca Drums" about every two months at Holden Beach. From what I have been able to find, it's the tetonic plates moving. There is a fault line running along the coast down to Charleston. Scares the h#ll out of the dog when it happens.

Maby a dumb question. but wear did that name come from??

I've heard or felt them before, always thought they were sonic booms from military jets.

Yep. Felt it. Scared the hell out of me. I thought Sunny Point went ahead and blew up a nuke.

It was scary.

Found it... from Local news paper..The Star News 11/19/10


An explanation that many are now suggesting is the legend of the "Seneca Guns." Some believe the ghosts of the Seneca Indians are getting revenge by using the guns that Europeans used on them so many years ago
