Default RPM's for Yamaha 50 2stroke

I'm the second owner of a Jones Brothers 17'6 skiff, pwrd by a yamaha 50 2 stroke. Its a 2003 model, my first boat, and everything orig from the factory. Last week I had the throttle cables replaced and the mechanic put back the same length cable that came off. He asked me to run the boat and get back to him as the new cables did not quite allow WOT. He was not certain of how they were before he removed them. I told him I had never maxed the boat out as its not a speed demon Anyhow I ran the boat and it maxed out 5000 rpm. By myself onboard and a full 12 gallons of gas I could not tell a difference from before. Anyone know if 5k rpm's is wot for this engine? Thanks a bunch.

4500-5500. Sounds like you are fine right in the middle. Engine height and prop are other variables that would affect your rpms.

I have the same motor (2007 model) and agree that 4500-5500 is correct. Mine's WOT 5050rmp.
