Default Haiti and Tomas

Well, Haiti is going through a big Cholera outbreak that continues to spread.
Ninety percent of their infrastructure is still down from the earthquake.
The CG and other assets have done a good job of watching for immigrants trying to get to the US. But they do get through....

Now we have Hurricane Tomas.
The NWS thinks it will start a turn to the NE by Wednesday and be a Category 3 storm.
Models show it being about 19 N and 73 W, right at Haiti on Wednesday.
So?
Possibility of a mass exodus?
Folks in the Keys will need to drop a dime if they seem something they believe isn't "just right".
They have been coming in, some have been busted (quietly).
Looks like there will be more soon.

I believe what you say is real. I don't know how much longer the Haitians are going to be able to stay in the mess they have. Of course I want to know what the people of the Dominican Republic are doing to keep their boarders from being over run.

They probably looked at the US as an example of what NOT to do. They're border is probably pretty secure, where as ours is, well, NOT secure. Cryin' shame if you ask me.

I am in the DR and for the past month or so they have been rounding up illegal Haitians and deporting them by bus back to Haiti. The border is currently closed except for trade and previous visa holders but if you have spent any amount of time out of the US, a little bit of money can get you pretty much whatever you want. I was in Haiti when the earthquake happened and for a few months afterward and the potential for disease issue was already being talked about then.

Looks like 2010 might be a really bad year for Haiti

If he wants to see Indians from India, all he has to do is go to the border in Arizona, plenty of them coming across illegally.

In all seriousness, the CG will have their hands full on this one.
Three disasters in Haiti?
Yeah, they will take to sea on a kid's pool toy if they could find one.
Each and every day, the CG is finding them in or near the FL Keys.
It's so often now that the media doesn't bother.
Makes ya wonder how many make it and you don't hear of it.

The hurricane's aftermath will just make it worse.
