Default Offshore fishing links

My hope in posting this is that folks will help me fill in the other areas.. heh.

I am doing some research and was amazed at how little information is out there on oil wells within reach of us commoners So, I downloaded all of the oil platform information from the Federal Ocean Energy Regulatory division, but have not added those yet... heh.

What I HAVE added are the ones that I know of outside of Port Aransas.

So.. I am going to share the information with everyone here. After I complete adding info, I will try to offer the information in a format that can be uploaded to a Lowrance or Garmin or whatever flavor FF.

For now, here is what I have. Please remember:

1.) This is not meant as a navigational tool (normal disclaimer).

2.) Please be kind and share if you can the more info I can add, the more you all get.

I will be updating water depth, closest weather bouy information, and anything else I can find useful, or you all mention is useful.

Then, when I finish an area, I will offer map screen shots you can print and laminate for your use as well.

Hope you find it helpful.

Hope it works. Please tell me what I can add to make it more useful.

Never fished POC, but hope to soon. I do not have nor have I found any info on rigs/platforms outside anywhere but Port A yet

Still looking.

Added like 6 weather bouys last night. Going to work on shrimping regions and shipping channels today. Then I will look up each rig and get water depth for them.

I like the idea of shrimping regions so we can try to figure out where they might be to trade beer for bait in the mornings :p

Ha-ha! We do that all the time in the Sea of Cortez. It's shrimping season right now through April. Pull up to one of the rusting hulks and offer 'em a cold six pack of Pacifico and watch them scramble to fill a bucket with huge, fresh caught blues!

Those blues are for "get in my belly", not used for bait!! We seldom use shrimp for bait. We've got live greenback macks, sardines, squid and so much other stuff to make for bait that it's a waste to even think of using the shrimp.

But, I have floated a lot of live shrimp under a rattling cork along the jetties at Port O'Connor and drawn some savage strikes! Biggest red I've ever seen in my life came from the jetties there. I need to find that picture of my buddy Jerry holding it. He gave it a big kiss on the lips and released it, even though he had a trophy red tag to keep it if he wanted. Those are the kind of guys I like to fish with!
