I'd support a city ordinance in my town out lawing the breed. I know there not all bad, but the majority of Pit owners are thugs looking for a "tough" dog. They neglect them and with their genetic design, a mean pit can do a lot more damage than a mean lab.

So the dog jumped over the railing of the crib? Not even the dumbest idiot would leave a 3 day old on the floor or the couch with a pit bull walking around. Parents should have been euthanized as well.

For every staunch supporter of Pit Bulls, they really need to undergo a virtual reality session of being attacked by the dog. To fight for the right to breed, sell and own the breed is all good and well, but on the other hand they should know first hand the pain associated from being attacked by such a breed.

My one major problem with the breed is that they WILL NOT STOP doing what it is they are doing when they are in the zone. Is saying banning the breed like saying ban ALL guns because they kill? No I say, because a gun doesn’t take on a life of it’s own and continuously refill and shoot on it’s own, whereas the dog does.

"He and his wife left to use the bathroom." Hmmmmm, sounds fishy.

And I'm not defending the breed when I say this (I don't like them anymore than you guys) but you don't leave a 3 day old baby ALONE in a room with ANY dog!!

That is one breed that needs to go, till owners are held responsible for the dogs actions nothing will ever happen, no difference in them unleashing a pit bull on you as me taking my shotgun and shoving it in your face, to bad Judge Joe Brown doesn't get to try them.

Every time I read about a pit bull attack, I cringe. I am sure that there are many other attacks by other breeds, but they just don't get the press because of the bad rap pit bulls have.
I am in the minority here. I know of many pit bulls that have lived their entire lives around small children, and never attacked or showed any aggression towards anyone. True, they were bred for fighting...true, many owners seem to want to bring that propensity for aggression out by training or behavior modification. That said, I just don't believe they all are just plain evil. What I think has happened is that through selective breeding, they have become inherently aggressive. If you mate two super-aggressive dogs, chances are their offspring will have the same trait. It's a sad state that someone desires that kind of behavior.
IMO, you need to look at those who breed them and the owners themselves...those are the ones who are ultimately responsible.

Here in east Texas and the surrounding states from what I see. They are thugs that have them from 22" rims to a bad weave on the other side of that people with there face all drawn in with missing teeth most all are chained up out side with nothing but dirt and holes for them. They do get stolen when they are young. I asked a young woman why and she said so they can fight someday, Oh! the pups go for big money. In my almost 5 years of living here there has been many attacks. I think it is a status statement for some for others it is because I want to be like my peers.
Anyhow it is very sad to see the negligence of the owner's

All dogs are capable of this. When you have a dog that is an "only child" and you suddenly bring in a new child that gets all of the attention it is a disaster waiting to happen. I'm not defending the pit bull but dogs are very jealous of their master's affection.
I have a friend with a female lab. She is the meekest and mildest mannered dog you will ever find. But when they had their first child, the dog pouted and would have nothing to do with them. She wouldn't even acknowledge the baby. She then went on to piss and shit in the house and eat his wife's panties.

The point I'm trying to make is that she was jealous because suddenly she was being ignored.

Can there be a dark corner in the back room of this forum where people can tally up pitbull attacks? It is starting to become as bad as the speed/sea conditions threads.

Sad storry that happens all too often. I don't take the hardline stance that all PitBulls should be put down. I've met some very friendly ones, but I'd personaly never own one do to their reputation.

I think too many pitbull owners are "Bad" people who are attracted to "Bad" dogs. Its no suprise that "Bad" things happen.

I have a yellow lab, neighbor has a pit bull. We made it insanely clear if the dog was to ever do anything to hurt our dog, we would happily spend thousands and thousands of dollars in court, tying their days up. Owner acknowledged, dog gets walked in the back yard on a leash and is neber let to roam. The people on the other side of our neighbor are the type of people to go out and just shoot the dog lol

Very true. My grandad had a German Shepherd that bit my cousin on the face when she was a toddler. The second my cousin was attended to he got his shotgun, the dog walked up to him, and my grandad blew his head off (literally). It was a shame that dog bit her because he (the dog) was very protective of my grandma.
