That's why I don't email while driving.

Also why I drive a 5000 lb vehicle.

Thats cute, mines 8600 lbs. You know the bigger a mans carbon footprint the bigger his ....

But seriously, when I drop my kids off at the day care, I look at the parents driving around thier kids in the back seats of a geo metro and think is it really worth the risk to save $3 a day? I much prefer them in an 8600 pound E350 with both car seats right in the middle of 2 seperate benches. There is something to be said for solid steal bumpers and sitting with your feet over the top of the average sedans roof.

Exactly.

Funny you mention Geo Metro - wife was hit while driving one and it changed our lives forever, in incalculable ways.

She drives a Tahoe these days, and will refuse to ride in any small sedan.

It did that to me too, and I just closed the facebook window and the play button came up. Instead of hitting the play button (which makes the Facebook thing come up again), I clicked on the time bar button and dragged the video into a few seconds. Presto.

Good thing yer not a detective.

AVG blocked the site for me. If it's the PSA from the UK, I've seen it.

Should be some nice revenue for the state if they enforce this new law

Maryland Senate Bill 321 has been signed into law by Governor O'Malley.
The new law will prohibit all Maryland drivers from using a Cell Phone without a Hands Free Device while operating a motor vehicle.

In addition the new law would prohibit "a holder of a learner’s instructional permit or provisional driver’s license who is 18 years of age or older from driving a motor vehicle while using a handheld telephone".

The fine for a first offense would be $40 and subsequent offenses would be $100.

The new law would be a secondary offense, meaning that a driver must first be committing a primary offense such as speeding or reckless driving before they could be ticketed for a Cell Phone offense.

The new law is scheduled to go into effect in October, 2010.

To read the bill please go to the State of Maryland Website and Read Senate Bill 321

California already has this law. It didn't do a dam thing to stop people. I've seen the soccer moms, police officers, school bus drivers and even semi drivers yaking on their cell phones while driving.

If you want to see the real thing, Google Red Asphalt. It's a short film made by the CHP and shows real pictures. It's not nice.
