Default A FEW DOLLARS--->Generosity!

Few times I am lost for words, but I'll give you the short story that leaves me speechless.

Last week my Wife decides to do some Cajun cooking. All she has is this best seller Emeril cookbook to go by. We are from NY without an ounce of Cajun in us. As it turns out, we have as much Cajun as Emeril and I'm done with his shtick.

She's looking for Cane Syrup for a cake. I post here in the food section about a substitute, low and behold, A FEW DOLLARS asks me for my address to send me some. Unbelievable generosity from a total stranger.

Today I get home and this box is in my house with a label for $34 shipping! I open it and the contents are in the picture below.

I'm just not sure what to think. Except the obvious Thank You! Which in of itself seems paltry in comparison to the deed.

I don't even know his name and while I know he is a frequent contributor here, we have no "relationship" to speak of. And Ironically enough, I think the last time he and I had any personal communication it was in a thread that he was agitated with me because I said something silly.

In a world of growing discontent, unhappiness and general dislike and disrespect for our fellow human, This man has bucked the trend and his generosity will be remembered.

Thank You A FEW DOLLARS!

Hence the term - southern hospitality.

For all of it's negative publicity (which most of contribute to), the internet can actually bring out the good in people.

That was a great gesture! AFD seems like he's pretty square business, but that was a very cool thing to do!!

So... AFD.... I'm really needing some new Uflex steering cylinders for my boat.... HAHAHAH!!

OMG what a great thing to do.

It would have probably been cheaper to drive to Hunt Valley Maryland where McCormicks makes all that Zaterains stuff but damn.....

When ever we drive by the plant you can smell the mix of the day. Yummmmmm.

Way to go AFW you sent Mike the real stuff..
Actually Gort McCormick in Maryland does very little of the Zatarain's product, the majority of shipping, mixing, packaging, and testing is done on the Westbank of New Orlean's. ask me how I know..
You are right it does smell wonderful.

Seeing the Steen's cane syrup makes me want to go drag a biscuit right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Few Dollars is the man.

Let me explain the bisquit deal-----

Cook you self up some home made cat head bisquits, not the whupp on the counter kind. Fresh from the oven. Take a saucer, in the middle of the saucer pour a goodly amount of Steen's then take a couple pats of butter and using the tines of a fork smash it into the syrup. When it gets good and mixed take a fresh bisquit and drag it through the mix. If it don't tear the bisquit in half, either the bisquit ain't fresh enough or you ain't used real butter. It don't get no better.

OK, let's play it forward. In the unlikely event that A FEW DOLLARS gets over to Orange Beach, AL, for fishing or otherwise,...and in the very likely event that his condo doesn't allow boat trailers in it's parking lot, here's an invite on behalf of Team Boehler:

Free boat/trailer parking at our house. Secure, safe, and 1 minute from the boat launch or the Pass.

Dollars, you did good. Good on ya'!!

Yup. Us NY and NJ people have no concept of being nice, and when people ARE nice to us, we think they're up to something. It's a shit way to live... hence why I'm leaving.

Very cool story!

From a political standpoint, AFD and I rarely see eye to eye...but that gesture is about as cool as anything I have ever seen! My hat is off to him!

It would help this world a lot if more gestures of absolute kindness like this were the norm.

Hard to beat creole food and hot buttered biscuits, cane syrup, and deer sausage on a frosty morning is one of my favorites.
Never will forget the trips to the cane mill when I was a kid.
