Default Florida Senator Bill Nelson...

responded to my gripe about raising the amount of ethanol in our fuels. I indicated to him he should be more concerned for his constituents due to the impact recreational fishing has on the Florida economy. Here is his reply. Another dingbat to target in '12

Dear Mr. Thompson:

Thank you for contacting me about tax incentives for alternative forms of energy.

I have been consistent supporter of tax incentives that increase the use of alternative fuels and have voted several times in favor of extending all current renewable energy tax credits. Spurring the development of renewable energies like ethanol and wind and solar power will reduce our dependence on foreign oil, slow the progression of global warming, and create new jobs.

Although we disagree, I appreciate your taking the time to share your thoughts on this important issue. Please feel free to contact me again in the future regarding any additional issue of concern.

Sincerely,
Senator Bill Nelson

Anybody know of studies that show how much reduction in MPG is seen as the result of using ethanol?

Anybody know what the price difference is (to oil companies) to buy equal volumes of ethanol vs. gas?

Anybody know what the cost to consumers (at the pump) is as the result of oil companies having to buy and blend ethanol into their gas?

Well, you guys beat me to it. What I was going to say is that Bill Nelson is and always has been a publicity whore/douchebag who never does anything without first determining how it will get his ugly mug in the press. This is the asshole who went "undercover" when he was Florida Insurance Commissioner to bust non-standard insurance agents for selling AAA type towing policies.

Biggest problem with a politician is they rarely care what you/I have to say (even though they represent us) it is their opinion that matters as pointed out in his reply!

Send him back a letter indicating this over looked fact and see what he says, another dingbat reply I'm sure.

You are correct. the question was not why are you continuing to subsidize a bad idea, but why are you trying to force me to put this shit in my boat? Nelson failed the basic "spot the issue" test that they teach you your fist semester of law school. The funny part is that this guy went to University of Virginia Law School, which is a top 20 program.

I heard some scuttlebutt from a classmate of mine from UF Law School that our Con-Law professor, who was very new when we were up in Gainesville, was a classmate of the Prez at Harvard and on Law Review with him and he didn't have a whole lot of complementary things to say about him. I really liked this guy's class and he was one of the profs who had absolutely no political axe of any kind to grind from what I could tell, but apparently he said that the rumors about Obama's "revolutionary tendencies" were pretty much spot on at that stage in his academic career.

I did...this was my reply...

"I would like you to know..you are the Senator from Florida, not Iowa. Why aren't you more concerned about your Florida constituents problems with ethanol? Are you not aware of the huge economical benefit boating has to the state? Or do you care?"
