Default 2002 Camaro Z-28 - your opinions?

I ran across this yesterday ...

- 2002 - the LAST year of the "older" body style!
- 5.7L (346) SFI LS2V V-8, SLP Air Box (A "350"?)
- 6-speed, manual
- 3.42 rear
- Cam "upgrade" from original factory cam
- Magnaflow exhaust and headers ("Sounds" GREAT!)
- +/- 400HP, per salesman
- Corvette-style wheels - 17" front/18" rear (I DON'T like the wheels!)
- 37,868 ORIGINAL miles
- NO power windows or door locks (ordered that way from factory)

Car appears to be in EXCELLENT condition overall - NO dents, chips, scrapes, scuffs, etc.. Interior is a "9.5-10"! Tires have about 60% tread left. Roof/inserts are EXCELLENT!

I would have a GOOD mechanic check it out - and maybe have it dyno'd (for the "+-400HP") as a condition of sale, if I get serious.

I think I could get it for about $15K. Does that seem "in line" for what I have described? Is this an "everybody has one" car? Any comments on the engine/rear end ratio? Any comments on the "6-speed"?

I did NOT drive it, yet - only listened to it run.

So - what say you "car buffs"??????????? Gimme' the good, bad, and the ugly - I won't be hurt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THANKS for your comments!

I'm a Ford guy so I say it's a POS....Ah just kidding dude...I'm not a fan of T-top cars. Weak unibodies. With that being said this is a low mileage car with lots of decent mods. $15 a little high in my book. Just sold a highly modified Buick GNX for $15 on Tuesday.

Man, that HURT! At 63, it's too LATE for a mullet!

Too rednecky? ;?

Hey, a set of Cragar "SS"'s on there would look much better? ;? Those wheels, IMO, ruin the look of the car.

Regards,

With those mods, its probably been driven hard. I use to have a 98 Trans Am, which is basically the same as the 02's. I think they had bumped the hp's another 15 or so from the 98's. 400hp should be close, I think that car was about 330 hp stock. They are fun to drive but I would not pay 15k, maybe closer to 10k. Still old school technology with a solid rear axle, I would wait a couple years and get one of the newer Cameros that arew stock with 400hp

There's nothing particularly attractive or desirable about a 2002 Camaro. That said, I'm sure you can find a Camaro club that would welcome it.

Crappy GM styling at it's best.

Atleast the new Chevy stuff looks good. That car is downright ugly.

I work at a body shop and we have worked on quite a few of those cars. They are junk! Do not do it, you will be sorry. They are just not put together well at all. If you run across a Ram Air Trans Am, however, those cars are cool.
