Default Got stopped by border patrol today

in Lincoln, NH. They had the highway (93) blocked off. Just asked us if we were all US citizens in the car. We said yes and they told us to move on. Guess the point of my thread is, why is it ok in NH and not AZ? BTW...I was glad to see them out there.

Well from the information you provided, the biggest difference is that all they did was ask you a question. When you told them you were a citizen, they took your word for it, and let you go on your merry way

In Northern Maine they stopped us and asked our Children if we were their parents. Glad the kids were in a good mood or yikes!

Was there any cars pulled over with illegals in it?

You guys are not use to running down there in AZ. From Midland TX all the way down the southern route of I-20 and I-10 into San Diego they are wall to wall with boarder patrol.
Just east of El Paso about 70 miles you roll through a check point and you are X-rayed just like your baggage goes through in a airport.
The reason for that question is once you answer a federal officer which Boarder Patrol are that you are from USA and they find out different you have committed a felony.
I've been ask that for the past 33 years running west coast with the truck. Every trip, 24/7 they are out there.

Were you at a border crossing or a check point?
That would be a very strange question for them to be asking at a check point......

Did you ask them if they were citizens?

[quote=Nicmegmatt;3005167] why is it ok in NH and not AZ? BTW...quote]

Because it is ok in NH and not AZ. What else

My point is, there doesn't have to be a reason.

If people living in this country actually used reasoning, things wouldn't be as messed up as they are.

Here's what I don't get. We in Stuart get boats with refugees all the time. You know who catches them? Our deputy sheriffs. Not "homeland security" (sic). Not border patrol. Deputies in cars. What happened to all this high tech surveillance we're supposed to have?

We were stopped there last year in November. After nearly three months on the road the interior of the Impala was less than orderly. Asked if we were US citizens & I replied that we were Australian. Started to reach for the passports but the Patrol officer just wanted to know if we were enjoying our trip. He waved us through with a smile but there were plenty of other vehicles that were getting turned inside out. No smiles for them.
Only time we have been checked or stopped in two three month road trips.

It was a check point on the US side while leaving Canada. Thought it was a strange question to ask the kids. This was way before 9-11...

Beufort T. yeah, border guy leans in on my wife's side sees the kids and asks "...are these your parents?" Daughter eight years old - says "yes". He says we can go.

Was talking to US Border Patrol at a boat show because we take my Niece with us all the time. She happened to be with me when we were talking to them.

I ask if there would be a problem because she's not my daughter, he answers "we profile everyone, and by the look of your niece and the way she's hanging on your leg while you talk to me right now, I can tell you are telling the truth"

"Kids can't lie" is the what he was telling me. They ask the kids the questions all the time.

So who decides who gets a "g'day" and who gets his car trashed?

I would have a hard time accepting anyone, Federal, State, or local, questioning my minor kids without my permission.

There is a checkpoint at Serita which is about 90 miles NE of Brownsville between Brownsville and Corpus Christi. Every car and truck is stopped and you are asked if you are a US citizen. They often ask where you have been...............they always walk a dog around your vehicle and they look inside through the windows. If it is at night they use a flash light.

Personally I think this is wonderful and in no way am I offended..................If you are offended by this then you are a sick puppy............

I guess maybe it's because when you profile the illegal aliens one would tend to encounter in NH (you know, the ones from the other country we border), they would probably be white. Can't have racial profiling if it's white people being singled out.
