Default THT Tax experts, what state(s) do I pay???????

cliff notes-
away on monthly per diem for 12 months ++ - taxed.

Paid from Delaware - not working there
regular house in Maryland - not living there, still own home
living and working in SC for 18-24 months.

What states(s) are due income taxes?

Delaware & MD don't have an agreement, I typically pay both when working in DE & living in MD. Now I am clueless.

Thanks.... I know you fellers know everything.

I would assume where ever the company that writes your check is based would be where you would be taxed

If your tax "home" is in Maryland, I would guess you will pay income tax to South Carolina as a non-resident and then pay in Maryland as a resident with a somewhat offsetting credit in Maryland for the taxes you paid in South Carolina. If, however, you become a resident of South Carolina and not of Maryland, you will probably have to pay tax in South Carolina as a resident with no income taxes in Maryland. That's for state income tax purposes, Fed might be a bit different as far as whether you might be able to deduct some of your duplicate living expenses while working in South Carolina if you maintain your residence in Maryland. With that much time in South Carolina, you probably should talk to a competent tax professional, might be able to save you more than enough money to pay for his/her services.
