Default My worst fear has come true!

My employer has just blocked "The Hull Truth" on all company computers!!! Yikes!

Anyone know of a backdoor way I could use to re-gain access? Keep in mind I'm not very computer smart.

Thanks in advance!

My employer is a goberment agency, and while I'm not the only employee that visits THT the corp. policy will be hard to flip.

Internet on the phone does not work underground, but thanks. How do you set up a remote desktop @ home? CPU dummy here.

What is the prompt you get when it is blocked? If Barracuda, you need a geek to crack it. If Websense, many companies only block during business hours. Get in early before the block and log on. You can stay on all day IF you dont sign off.

www.logmein.com

install it a home.. very simple and small program..
Get on your work computer and try to access www.logmein.com
if they do not block that one, go to your home computer, go to www.logmein.com, sign up for free, and install the little free software that they have to add your home computer to your user name.
go to your work computer, access www.logmein.com, sign in with your user name, and remote control your home pc.

the good part is that is free, you do not need to install ANYTHING on your work PC, they can't block you or track you, because the real browsing is being done on your home pc.

No offense, and I know this is going to come off as offensive, but if I was an employer, I'd block all personal use sites as well as a ban on texting and personal cell phone calls.

The production of this world has come to a screeching halt with texting and emails.

Just as an example, try and get anything accomplished in a male dominated office on NFL Fantasy Draft week! It is very frustrating.

Don't get me wrong, I've got family that I love that are part of this system and are not productive at work. Its not personal, don't take it that way. But if I'm paying you and your texting your buddies or cruising THT, I'm going to start with threats and end with termination. It's WAY too tough making a buck these days to accept this behavior.

Thanks for the help and advice, for me the "Logmein" thing sounds like the best idea. My company is 24hrs a day 7 days a week so there is no such thing as getting in early! Basturds!

I'll give it a shot in the next few days or so, and report back.

Thanks again.

Mike,

No offense taken in the least, I agree with you 100%. My problem is where I work we often have to pull 16 hr. shifts and at times it can be hard to keep up with a home life, pay bills communicate with realtor, lawyer accountant etc when you have to do unexpected O/T 3 days in a row.

I like to log on during my lunch break as a way to unwind after checking on how the day went at home and so on.

So no offense.

you've got a tough job! This is why "one size fits all" policies don't work very well but are common with big employers.

How about a Verizon Mifi with a laptop or netbook? I have both and I can connect anywhere there is a Verizon signal. This way you can do your breaks wherever you want, don't have to be in front of your terminal that your in front of 16 hours a day anyway. Parking lot, park bench etc...

Since XP and Winders 7 have Remote Desktop Assistance, send yourself an invitation from your home PC every day. Then you can logon to the home PC and do what you want.
