Default Police hunt for attackers in fatal Craigslist home robbery

Police across Western Washington are searching for four suspects wanted in a fatal home invasion robbery in Pierce County that started with a Craigslist posting. The homeowner was shot and killed, and his wife and sons were assaulted.

Pierce County detectives believe the robbery was committed by the same people involved in a similar crime last weekend in Lake Stevens.

The robbery happened around 9 p.m. Wednesday at 106th Avenue Court East in Edgewood, just north of Puyallup. Police are looking for three men and one woman. Authorities say the four came to the house armed with guns and zip ties with the intent to rob the family.

Investigators say the family was apparently trying to sell a diamond ring on Craigslist. Police say the suspects posed as potential buyers to get into the family's home. Once inside, they shot and killed the 43-year-old father, pistol whipped his 14-year-old son and tied up the mom and the younger son. Police say the younger son managed to get the ties off and called 911 after the attackers fled in a car.

Sad story.

Mistake number one... Invite strangers into your home to sell a luxury item. Even worse, craigslist strangers...

As much stuff as I sell on eBay and craigslist, if I do have to meet someone to sell/deliver them something, it is always at a public place of business.

Heck, even do it in the lobby of a local police dept if you want to. It's a public place.

There are no guarantee's, but it sounds like this tragedy might have been avoided/deterred if that was the case.

There are way too many bad people out there...

I hope this one ends with the suspects all located and brought to justice. "Six-feet under" type of justice...

Definitely tragic. But sad to say, their own mistakes cost the husband's life.
You are absolutely right about meeting in public places.

They should go to Sonny's Restaurant. They'll be treated just the way they deserve.

This stuff just kills me, people have got to start understanding you cannot trust anyone nowadays, sad to say it but if it keeps you alive then so be it. I sold a 4 wheeler awhile ago and was armed to the teeth while the guy looked at it and had my wife and kids locked in the house while we were outside. My condolences to the wife and kids.

Good post - I am thinking the mistake (like the other cragslist scam here ) was the iniitation via craigslist..

I am all for homeowner guns and all, but crap if 4 armed men get even near the door with the inten tof harm and there is one of you and you pull the gun - you gotta either be premptive get them all before they get to draw (a probably concealed guns) or b. After you pull your gun - You're all gonna die anyway.

I am going ot gett as much personal information as possible off the internet sites I use. And screw Craigslist - I am just gonna use that to buy.

They caught the culprits:

I say send them to China and let the authorities there deal with them. Summary judgement and execution with a bullet to the back of the head, and then send a bill to the criminal's family for the price of the bullet.

Not to profile or anything, but are you going to let those two in your house to look at an expensive item your selling? I think not. A little common sense would save alot of lives and put a lot of criminals out of business. How stupid do you have to be!

Don't apologize for profiling. I wouldn't let those 2 maggots near me anywhere.

I'll say it again, the victims did not deserve, this but they may as well have pulled the trigger themselves by allowing those 2 strangers in to their home.

I've got to feel for the surviving family members and friends, what a waste of a good person.

Crimes and criminals are finding new ways to lower the standards everyday.....what does the future hold for our safety and piece of mind?

+1 Always do one of these types of transactions in a well lit public venue.

Very sad -- hopefully these scumbags are put on death row.

If this took place in Massachusetts, the murderers would likely do a few years at a high-end psychiatric hospital, before being released to kill again. Hopefully Washington does better.

While the killer may get a death sentence, it'll be years before it's carried out and they will live at the expense of the citizens of Washington state.
They will get a hell of a lot more consideration than they showed for the victims.
Anyway, all this is off-topic, and I apologize for the rant.

Exactly, maybe it's because of my occupation, but i would have immediately been suspicious of those two little turds.

I am guilty of selling stuff on here, a few other boards and ebay....

I am also guilty of buying a few things on ebay and CL and picking them up in person, or if I am selling un shipable items I will allow them to come to my home.

I will keep this in mind next time, because I sure don't want to end up dead.. All of the deals have been in the driveway (does not really matter) and I always pack a 45 in my front pocket no matter where I am. The saving grace for me is I have 4 big dogs, and people don't like big dogs because they are loud and could very well kill the attackers.

But this is tragic, and I am very sorry for the family involved...
RIP and I hope they hang those guys and one gal from their balls, and nipples..
