Thumbs down Shipping from Bass pro shop Smartpost BS

I placed an order from Bass Pro shops on May 2 for some hooks I need for Gautamala. They assured me they would be here well before my trip departure on May 14. I asked what is the method of shipping and she said Fedex ground. It is now the 12th and realizing I hadnt received my hooks yet I made a call to Bass Pro. I talked to someone in customer service and they tracked my order, it is not going to be here until the 14th ! I asked why the hell Fedex ground is taking 12 days, I asked if their new method was horseback.

Her answer is "Well sir it was shipped Fedex smartpost" I said what the hell is smartpost. she tells me that Fedex taked it most of the way and the post office delivers it. After I went off on a rant, They offered to refund my shipping. I said the 8 bucks doesnt get me my hooks for my trip.

Just a heads up if you think you are going to get your tackle in a timely manor from Bass pro.

On a side not I like to buy from all my local tackle shops, but after calling or going to about a dozen of them no one had the circle hooks I and my crew wanted for sailfishing.

Sounds like you gave a post office box as your address. FedEx does not deliver to PO boxes.

Several years ago I sent two ambassador 6000 reels to Bass Pro to have them serviced. I called them before I shipped, because I needed them in a month to go on a trip to the cost. They assured me I would have them. Four days before I leave, I call them again and they say they are shipping out that day and I will have them by the time I leave. The day I am to leave, they are still not here. I call bass pro again and they apologize and say they will ship two brand new reels overnight to the motel Ii am staying at. Sure enough, when I get there, two brand new reels with fresh line are awaiting. When I get home, my two old reels, freshly serviced are there - no charge. This action kept me buying from bass pro because I was so pissed before I left on my trip I would have never gave them another penny. Because they gave me two new reels, I have done business with them ever since.

Fedex SmartPost aka FedPost is the dumbest idea ever.

I have totally lost my respect for Fedex over it.

It recently bit me....Here's how it works:

FedEx picks up package from merchant. It's routed through FedEx to a US Post Office, which may be any place. The package is then shipped parcel post, the slowest way possible, to you. What would take Fedex Ground 1-2 days can take 7-9 days on FedPost.

FedEx is selling this load of crap to merchants as a cheap alternative to "real" shipping. It let's the merchant advertise Fedex shipping, while the consumer pays the price suffering slow delivery.

I advise everyone to complain loudly and avoid any merchant who ships FedPost.

I just pay for 2nd day when I need something, always works. The other options are cheaper but never seem to be delivered as promised. UPS ground seems to be the most dependable for the best $$. In my area at least.

Another cheaper option than blue label is to use orange label, 3-day delivery, less money.
