Default A Chic Magnet?

Camaros? I've been watching who's driving the new Camaros and to date it's 70% girls and 30% guys. Maybe it's just a Texas thing.

Nah, I see the same here during the week. If you look at the new Mustangs its the same thing. On the weekends its mostly middle aged men driving. There both so pricey any it seems its more dual income middle aged couples are buying them for a second car. Most of the ones I see in driveways have a truck parked there as well, and we know whos going to drive what to work. I think it says a lot about the state of car culture in this country. It doesnt seem like a lot of younger men 20 to 30 that can afford the price, are into that type of car any more. The gearhead car culture seems to be diminishing. Its a shame both in that aspect, and that they couldnt take the Camaro and the Mustang back to their roots, a hot car thats easily affordable.

I don't think it's so much the price range, but there are not many 20-30yr olds that want to drive them(in Texas that is).
Most of us prefer a truck or SUV. The ones that want a car prefer something German.
The girls that are driving the Mustangs and Camaro's had the car purchased by their parents who are trying to re-living their glory days.

Gearhead? To work on these cars you have to be a computer geek not a gearhead. Gearheads like to work on their cas but now they can't even find the spark plugs. Heck do they even have spark plugs.

I think the big 3 did a pretty fair job retroing the pony cars. I like'm all. Being a Bowtie guy since birth I lean the Camaro way. They all make the original versions look like they are standing still whether they are or not.

As for the fairer sex:
Girls like convertibles. Women like expensive convertibles.
As for the magnet part; Both would jump on the back of a Harley long before any car.

I would like either save maybe 2 reasons - I am one of those balding middleage guys and don't want look like an old fart going thru a change of life event (like these beautiful people I see at bars with designer jeans and Austrailian hats and such ) and 2 - I am a GMG guy and I do like the looks of the Ford and even the Charger better, but really don't fit into the Mustang all that well (that center console is very wide). Haven't tried squeezing into the Camaro - and of course - there is the $$$$ and I am guessing it will beyears before used ones start showing up......

Stright up guys, I use to love working on them. Still do but using the HP tuner once you learn it is a very cool toy but the motors are built so much tougher than the ones we had back when.
Women like anything small. Unless its soccer mom with the 20 kids that fall out the van once it stops rolling.
How many woman you see driving chargers or challangers. Almost none. They are to big, you sit to low and I hate loading those things.
Mustangs fit the bill perfect. Guys love the faster mustangs and guys look at chicks that drive mustangs. Usually the v6 but they still look.
Its that never endless race to look good.
Used,,,, mustangs are cheep, sporty , and there one of the few left that are small sports cars.
350z nissan's turbo skys , things like this are always going to be way over the head of girls. Sure some will drive them but not very many.
Ford did good this time. The Mustang is here to stay.

Would you guys consider these chicks cars or a chick magnet.
Bottom one is mine and Mac on here mentioned it was a girls car and in the next three weeks I had several others mention that to me. Cool little sports car but just want your views.

Vette- chick magnet
Saturn- I have driven one and they are fun to drive but it is a chick car.
Camaro- I really like the new style but I am afraid I'm going to vote chick car....how about calling it a crossover...chick car with the potential to be a chick magnet like RussH's.

Since I'm the OP, I guess I'll chime in here. Looking at it from my perspective and knowing my wife, if a Camaro were in our car pool she would proclaim ownership and allow me to drive it only after performing certain chores. Perhaps this explains the imbalance of female/male drivers we see on the roads.

Liveaboard what was any different about beachbums post than mine? I wasnt being offensive, that was just my honest opinion. He told you the same thing I did. Most two seat roadsters are chick cars. They just look femmy and for the most part are gutless. I4's and small V6's pretty much define a chick car. Miata's, Sky's, Solstice's are girl cars, hell just look at the names, Sky, Solstice. What man wants to drive around in a car called a Sky? A Vette is...well a Vette. For that matter even the plain jane Vettes as often or not lean toward being a chick car. You see a lot of upper middle aged female real estate types driving them, sad because you know they will never be driven the way they were intended. I had a C5 Vette coupe, basic no frills, until I added the twin charger setup. 750+hp at the rear wheels, no longer anywhere near being a chick car. With the exception of the exotics, Ferrai, Lamborghini, and such the base models of most sports cars are chick cars. With the exception of maybe the Vette these days, I dont think there is an American chick magnet. As someone posted above the hot muscle or sports cars are more guy magnets than chick magnets. When was the last time you saw a woman over the age of 18 being attracted to a guy in anything that wasnt reallly expensive? High school girls or the local trailer queen might go after a guy for a Camaro or Mustang, but the last time I checked Im too old for high school girls. I saw a poll, I think it was on the G4 channel during a Bond movie where they were asking women on the street about what kind of car attracted a woman to a man like Bond's Austin. The only American cars mentioned were the Vette and Caddilacs. Other than that they were all BMW's, Mercedes, Jags and such.

I have to say the Saturn is a chick car, same as the Miata, Boxster, Z3, and the little Benz 2 seater. All cute little 'sports' cars without a huge (gotta be a 'car person' to pay) price tags.

Now if they'd stuck even a little V-8 in that Saturn (yes I know the amazing power they produce now), put side pipes on it, then it would be more attractive to men.

[QUOTE=nautiduck;2969343]Liveaboard what was any different about beachbums post than mine? I wasnt being offensive, that was just my honest opinion.
No buddy, You were doing just want I wanted you guys to do. Just needed several answers on this .
I Pm'ed HTV and ask him to let me follow this up on his thread. Trust me, there is always method to my madness.
The vette is mine if I want it. I"m more than likely going to get it and CP The GF is going to get my sky.
We are mid 50's and she felt the sky was a guys hot rod cause it has the blower motor and it is a 12 .98 second car.
Several of our friends at the dock partys mentioned it was a girl car but you guys posting on here last night really helped her understand she would not be driving a guys car. Not really using you guys but was letting your answers help me out in my direction. Think you can understand now. When I"m on the road she is on here all the time with me at nights (at her home) and she is Fountaingirl, (just don't want to jump in the ring as she calls it when all the fussing and fighting starts on these threads. She wont talk or post but does have a username. LOL
I use headset and of course the laptop is on 24/7 but she reads and we enjoy talking about the thread on here and some other forums I'm on.
I only buy deals and only paid 9g for the sky and its a 07 Its a great sports car but the blower/headers and all the extra stuff I had added does not affect the driving. She can still drive it but I let you guys answers prove to her ,, "FOR ME"
she would not look like some girl in a guys car.
Told you there was method to my madness.
Maybe you can understand now.
Vette is supercharged, 415 stroker. Gman that has kept it "mint" had open heart surgery and needs to get rid of it . Price is not that bad.
CP is quite a lady, tickled about getting the sky, just didn't want to look out of place in it which your answers helped her see.
So thank you guys,, Ya did just want I was hoping you would do. Answered me honest.
thanks again HTV.

Another reason to NOT buy a Camaro.
