Sure they freed the pirates they captured on that oil tanker. LOL You gotta hand it to the Russians in knowing how to handle pirates.

As far as I'm concerned the international community should be praising actions like this. Hoenstly I don't know why governments give these guys a fair trial. If you get caught hijacking a ship you get a bullet in the head. End of story.

Although I'm not a big fan of the Russians or Dimitry Mendelev, I sure do as hell like this quote: "we'll have to do what our forefathers did when they met the pirates."

Freeing can involve casting them adrift...or dumping body bags into the sea. Either way, it's either going to send a message of warning, or pirates are going to become more ruthless.

I like the idea of a safe room inside a ship. Never heard of one before.

"Why should we feed some pirates?" he asked. He did not give specifics of the pirates' release, but the official news agency ITAR-Tass quoted a ministry source as saying they were "sent home," unarmed and without navigational devices, in the small boats they had used to approach the tanker.

I hope they spun them around in circles a few times first!!! And only with a gallon of gas and a paddle...

I'd have set them adrift in a boat with the word "matchbox" stamped on the bottom......and tossed a couple raw steaks in the water as I pulled away so they'd have something to eat!

It sounds like they cut them loose with no way to navigate so the Russians are letting them drift to their death.

That just doesn't sound like their culture to let captors drift away. Maybe without the outboard, so if they're found, they won't have any bullet holes in them but they'll still most likely be dead from the elements?

Hopefully it's just that the news reports didn't mention the target practice the boys got starting from 1 mile away.
