"You never know when 2nd platoon is offcourse or your kids friends are someone in your family is in the house."

Just goes to show the importance of quality training. Some people got it. Some of these others I'm not sure about. Weapons isn't a good place for school of hard knocks.

Bought a Remington Spartan coach gun a while back and have some #4's handy. It's cool but it's only two shots. Our primary "go to" guns are a 1911 for me and a Smith 686+ for her.

Have you had any quality training? Sounds like you had an accident once.

And... you haven't answered my question.

The only home invasions that happen around here is the occasional wayward drunk!

I answered a few of your questions and some others. Maybe I missed a few too?

I personally have not accidentally shot anyone or have had any round be a near miss of any kind that I am aware of. However... I can say I have been and am aware of others who qualify for both.

If you have this problem you can't control your household, let alone a firearm. In my home you have to use a key or break glass to get in. The windows are locked and the doors are deadbolted. If I hear breaking glass, you are going to see a gun. A crazy ex of mine found that shi+ out. Because I could identify my target she doesn't have any .357 holes in her.

What do you call an unarmed man in a home invasion? VICTEM
People that break into homes at night carry guns and it is much better for them if it isn't going to be a fair fight.

Well??? My father was USMC, NYPD and my sister has broken glass and doors to get into the house. She and her friend which was a good probable to be my girlfriend also broke into my bedroom at 1:00am to get to her bedroom without waking my father. I guess If it could happen in my family it could happen in any family.

Not quite sure what you mean with your last statement.

"Are you people really anti gun protesters trytng to make gun owners look like idiots? No real gun owner would be so stupid!"
I guess wife being raped is a pretty poor excuse for wanting a gun...

Not a heck of a lot of stories to back up that reason...It would make a better reason not to have a gun.

Honestly now. I don't really understand how someone could be "accidentally" shot in the middle of the night. If the person in your house is legit and warned that you have a gun and will use it, they WILL identify themselves. I highly doubt your son's girlfriend would take a chance at getting shot by continuing on to your son's bedroom knowing she may have a fourth hole in her.

I don't know how it can happen at night but if it can happen in broad daylight , I think a obvious conclusiuon would be it could also happen at night. Apperantly, accidental shooting of a family member is almost a daily occurance.

Boatmanalso

If you have more experience in violent crimes, shooting or people dying please let me know.

15 years as a street cop working in the murder capitol of Florida and 22 years in LE

Been to at least 30 to 50 shootings (1 being mine)
probably over 100 home invasions
probably over 150 robberies
probably over 250 Agg Assaults (those that involve a gun or other weapon)

I have arrested 1 Concealed Weapons Holder for felonious use of his firearm.

I have NEVER been to a mistakenly shot person call. I have been to several accidental shooting that were suspicious in nature (read possibly drug related incident)

You might best spend your time asking the bad guys how many times they point a gun at people, rob people or shoot the wrong person. My experience is LEGALLY OWNED FIREARMS SAVE LIVES.

This year for the first time since I can remember violent crime has reduced 7 percent during bad ecomonmic times, you know why because more people than ever are legally being guns, getting training and are legally getting permits to carry in Florida.

Come back when you know more about what you speak, myself and several others on this board work in violent atmospheres almost everyday and see the violence and the REAL casualties... It is the lady going to the grocery store, its the old couple scared to death in their own home, its the young family at home when the thug kicks open the front foor....

Now please leave this thread to the experienced people and people with honest suggestions. Make your opwn thread about gun control if you wish.

OP,
Those Federal low recoil shells are about 1/3 less recoil in a 12 ga. There is also a new stock out (forgot the manf) that really reduces recoil too..

Dont shoot what you cant see.
thats the last i will say on this boatmanalso since you are anti gun and no amount of common sense will sway you
It would be like arguing about abortion. I'm not pro life but there is a percentage that think they should dictate what you do with your body. But this is a sportsman's forum and to be anti gun here would be like a black person (cant believe i cant typee N3gro here) attending a KKK rally. You could do it but you will never get your point to be accepted

Probably 60 to 75 percent are most likely drug related but the new rage are quick burglaries where they kick in front and grab the big screen and other stuff and those could quickly turn into home invasions if someone is home as a lot more burglars are armed.

Now that is funny"Now please leave this thread to the experienced people and people with honest suggestions."

I'm not sure what to say to you. Since it is your occupation. I would suspect you would have more calls and be aware of differernt calls you been on opposed to I try to aviod those situations. Me being a cops son was almost shot accidently by another cops son point blank with a miss of about a inch. I'm pretty sure I can be as dead as anyone. I also had a friend who got shot accidently in the chest. I also know of a few fatal shots and a not fatel shot on the next street from me. And I'm in a tiny town. 2 streets and that? What about the rest of the streets? I even know of stuff that isn't/wasn't reported. Don't let your job go to your head. There are other occupations that are more dangerious than yours.

I wont post again to you boatmanalso,
but I never posted how important my job was just posting facts. You have posted hardly any.

I also will not say your a liar but if that many people around you, including your incident have been caught in friendly fire you need new friends, family, and neighbors... I think in our dept of almost 1800 officers we get about 20 shootings a year and you describe 6 you know of ... Sound like either your town is full of idiots or your stretching quite a bit... Have a good day... Remember Always treat a gun as it is loaded, they have not grasped that theory in Boatmanalso's town..

Yea just accidental shootings, everyone owns guns so there is less crime like cracker says. Howerver Me in the near miss accidental shooting was in NY on Long Island . My dad was a NYPD and the shooter was also the son of a NYPD. I'm not sure what point cracker was trying to make? From the sounds of it I been around this stuff longer than he has been alive.

Actually I posted links to google stories backing up what I said you didn't do anything but say some stuff which was a generalization and buy your own admittance guestamtes.

" Always treat a gun as if its loaded" is the only sensable thing you have said. As I am aware of. easier said then done.
