Next year, how about a half time entertainer born AFER 1960 ;?

I thought they were great. Good mix of songs and well performed. Whoever said they were sloppy must have not seen the Who before. They were ALWAYS sloppy, full of energy, loose, close to collapse and wild. They way rock and roll should be.

Whether or not a 40 year old group should be playing the Superbowl is a whole 'nother discussion but The Who did play well.

I thought it was the best halftime in years. That may not be say8ing much. For sure better than Excretia Jackson. And no wardrobe "malfunction".(thank God)

They started out weak and got better!
VERY nostalgic!
Not as good as 1983 in Shea Stadium with the Clash
opening though! You couldn't hear the jets flying low over the stadium to land
while the Who played!

huh what did you say?

I saw the Who live about 30 years ago and it was one of the best rock concerts I've ever been to.

But the Who for the 1/2 time show last night? I don't know, I thought they were alright, but I wouldn't have picked them to do the 1/2 time show in the first place.

They also now have their own channel on XM. There are better bands without having to dig up has beens.

We had a superbowl party at my house Mark and the verdict was unanimous......that half time show sucked. My daughter in college texted us and said...."seeing an old fart playing teenage wasteland is pathetic".....we all agreed.

I've always thought The Who sucked. Townsend is disgusting, surprised he's made it this long without contracting AIDS.

Man you guys are harsh! I think pinball wizard was terrible but then they started to pick up the pace. Overall, I think Roger and Pete did a hell of a job for 65+ year old guys! I was wondering if that was the crowd singing with them? I bet the guys with a few beers in 'em thought it kicked ass!

Whatever you thought of the Who's performance yesterday, your comparison is a bad one. There are many who think (like myself) that John Lennon was the heart and soul of Beatles but in anycase they were certainly nothing if not an ensemble group. For a better comparison if the Plant and Page chose to tour again using some drummer and some keyboardist/base player would you see them, I would.

Was watching Robert Plant on Soundstage last night after the Superbowl and he had changed some of the Zeplin songs. Needless to say, I was not impressed and changed the channel. Definately not the Plant I saw in concert in the early 90s!

I don't know the current quality of musicianship of Plant and Page but wasn't my point. My point is those guys were the creative/musical heart/soul of the band and could easily pull off a show without Entwistle/Bonham, similar to the situation Who.

I understand everything's relative. For example, it would be impressive if a 90 year old man could nail, with gusto, a 25 year chick .... I still wouldn't want to watch it happen.

The NFL picked a suspected child porn creep and known drug abusers. Awesome example to set.

I like the Who's music but was not impressed with the half time show as I am not impressed with most live performances whether recorded or seeing them in person. Now I have seen Steve Miller live and that was great, he sounded pretty much the same as the recordings. I know the Eagles sound great live too, why dont they pick the bands like that? All these old rockers who yelled in all their songs sound like crap now.

It could have been worse. They could have had Dick Clark up there on stage with them.

Right on the money, Bird Rock. They kicked a little halftime azz with that set. I liked the smile Townsend gave Daltry at the end. They both kicked it out and I think they enjoyed it. For a second I thought Townsend was gonna bust up his guitar at the end. Mark me down as an old fan that enjoyed it.

Do you know why they keep dragging out old guys to play half time, because there hasn't been any music in this country that compares in the last 20/25 years. I'll take the Who on their worst day over lip synching pop or rapping garbage.
