Default Kauai

The wife and I are going to a wedding on Kauai in June. The wedding is at the Hyatt which appears to be really nice but we're looking for a bed and breakfast or some resort to stay the rest of the week. I've checked trip advisor and there's around 50 places on the island all with good reviews.

Can anyone recommend a small resort or b&b that's ocean front that won't destroy our budget?

Whatever you do, go for the helicopter ride into Wimea Canyon.

Can't help on the B&B's, but we stayed at the Hyatt Poipu about 4 years ago. What a sweet resort. Be sure to go up to Hanalei on the north side of the island. If you can, take a tour that will show you the Na'pali coast - unreal. The day we went to Waimea Canyon it was totally fogged in.

well, funny you ask! I own Poipu Plantation Resort, 1 mile to the Hyatt and in a nice beach neighborhood for walks to Brennecke's and Poipu Beach. Some of our guests attend conferences and events at the Hyatt, stay with us for a more low key, affordable atmosphere. We are across our small street from the ocean with homes on the ocean side of us (not ocean front). A nice, comfortable, friendly and reasonable place to stay, fully staffed and with options at our B&B Inn or Vacation Rentals with kitchen (non B&B). Check out our web site www.poipubeach.com and email from there - attn Chris and I will be glad to help - Aloha!

Chris - You are a lucky man to live in such a true paradise. We were there a few years ago and the island left a lasting impression on our family. It was a long trip from Central FL but I would do it again in a heartbeat. Nice looking place by the way.

Kauai is the nicest place on earth in my opinion. Went there for 2 weeks about 10 years ago and still the best vacation I ever had. Enjoy!!

Kauai is wonderful place out here in the Pacific. I never get used to the beauty and wonderful environment, weather is great all year, nice people.

Hanalei is a great choice area to stay too, another different world up there. June will be real nice and boats will be returning to Hanalei bay by then - summer moorings, surf is too big in winter.
