My wife and I saw that episode too. Rowe makes me laugh each time I watch that show.

Didn't he say that they are allowed to have up to 15 chickens per residential house in the city of Miami? That's insane...

Correction on the name of the crew that captures the chickens. They are known as "The Chicken Busters"....LOL

Evidently people buy them as chicks for their kids and when they get to be big, loud, obnoxious, stinky chickens the people just throw them out in the street. Then they learn to fend for themselves and breed making more loud obnoxious stinky chickens.

They said there an estimated 20,000 chickens running the streets in Miami and they can only catch about 30% of them. Something tells me this will be a never ending job as they are probably reproducing faster than the Chicken Busters can catch them.

Only in Miami..LOL

They're pretty well embraced in Key West. I always enjoyed seeing them, there are some in Big Pine too I always saw at the Win Dixie, I dunno if they have made they're way up even farther or not.

Actually in this particular instance they said that the crew rounding up the chickens is made up of all volunteer city employees. There is actually a waiting list to get on the crew. So they do it for free / fun.

They donate the chickens to farms for breeding, and the eggs they find they also donate to food pantries (so they said).

Pretty cool.

Those Haitian earthquake refugees will thin them out much quicker than the chicken patrol.

Must be in Liberty City or Little Haiti. Get ready to see a big increase in their numbers.

From what I can tell maybe they need to go back and round up iguanas too. Maybe pythons. Or parrots. No end to invasive species.

You are correct. I was born and raised in Miami Shores. But I still should have known about this. The friggin news stations make news out of everything. I can't believe this hasn't been on the news.

LOL....chickens running the streets in Miami. Can't stop laughing about it.
