Default Suggestions needed for a place to stay....

...up north in or around Vermont or NH or...?
The little woman will be having a major birthday in early April and she would like to go north.

Maybe a nice cabin with a fire place just to kick back and relax. Most of the skiing will be coming to an end about that time. Maybe a cabin near or on the slopes would be available at a good price?

I have skied Killington 3 years in a row when I was single (damn that was a long time ago). Good times, Wobbly Barn, Pickle Barrel night life.

Something near Lake Champlain,VT or Winnipesaukee in NH?
Something with a view?
Maybe do a little smallmouth fishing if we are on or near a lake?

Thanks,
Jeff

Hey Jeff;

Have you given any thought to Lake Placid? It's not my stomping ground, but maybe another option for you.

April is going to be a little cool in those parts for the most part. Maybe not even ice out yet. Depending on the season.

Jeff
This place is great http://www.millfalls.com/

I've stayed here three times for 5 days each while I was doing some training at Vutek in Meredith, NH. "Church Landing" is the best of the 4 different Inn's. GREAT food, indoor/outdoor pool etc... My wife and I went out last fall for 3 nights and had a great time.

(I was in GCG's clubhouse and I hear this is what she wants)

My X wanted to take me to a castle that was on a lake or in the middle of a lake in NY. Not sure about all the details bc it never happened. I googled castle on lake in NY and a couple different ones came up.

What kind of budget are you looking at?

April is very iffy up here with mud and whatnots. Pampering or feet up? Does she go out at all or hang out getting the nails done?

FAST beat me to it, I was also going to recommend the Inns at Mill Falls in Meredith, NH. Don't forget, Easter is in early April so don't mess up any family plans.

killington will still have snow in early april...so should stowe and sugarbush if you want to ski. thanks to catholic school, my kids have a really long easter break, so i'm looking for something up there as well.

we skied southern vermont during the last week of march 2 year ago...plenty of snow around. i've been told that sugarbush is a "best bet" for that time of year with killington as a close second.
