Default Should I upgrade my Video Camera?

I currently have a Panasonic PV GS9 Mini DV camcorder with 20x optical. I want to make a new effort of videoing my 4 year old niece and we are going on vacation in a few months, so I'm thinking its time to move up to digital.

But I know a lot of people still use Mini DV camera's so is it worth it? There is nothing wrong with my camera, I've got a good case, 3 extended life batteries, so I'm all set up right now.

Am I going to gain anything by moving up?

Maybe I need an excuse to drop some bucks on something but that would be foolish if there is no need.

I have a mini DV that my wife bought me for Christmas 2 or 3 years ago and I don't think I've used it much except for when I 1st got it. last time was 1 1/2 years ago at Disney and it was a PITA lugging it around. I now use a Flip HD that fits in my pocket and records up to 2 hours in HD. I hated carrying around a camera bag.

I guess my biggest grip is that I never carry it when I need it. It's too bulky.

I had a feeling this thread would cost me

I have NO IDEA which one to look for. Compact and easy.

I got one of these to replace my digital tape about 2 months. So far I love it. I paid 400 and change

I have the basic Mino Flip 60 min, but if I had it to do over again I'd go up to 120 minutes. I don't really need the HD, but the additional time is nice.

It's a great thing to have and its small size is super convenient. Haven't touched my HandiCam since I got the Flip.

Quick upload via USB, drag the frames into Windows MovieMaker, and viola... instant movie.
