The files to be deleted are listed below:

  • %WINDOWS%\system32\iehelper.dll
The associated registry entries to be removed are as follows:
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\AvScan
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{BAD4551D-9B24-42cb-9BCD-818CA2DA7B63}
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{BAD4551D-9B24-42cb-9BCD-818CA2DA7B63}

go to your normal desktop. Start>run and type cmd, in the box that comes up type ipconfig......whats your ip address?

Do you have a router in between your pc and the cable modem? if yes you should see something like 192.168......

maybe it se a static ip on you. may have set a bogus proxy also. try and right click on your connection down in the system tray (bottom right) and click "repair"

Ok, hold on I am in normal now. I played with the msconfig clean boot in XP. IE won't even run at all now. I am in Mozilla. Now I need to start turning things back on one by one, right?

yes if you unchecked things you'll need to recheck if you want them to run. Maybe IE the only thing hosed? try and uninstall it all together thenre-install.

You may also want to clean the reg if you are going to un-install IE. Use "CrapCleaner", it has a reg cleaning tool, its free.
