Default another cruise ship recomendation needed...

Planing to take the wife and daughter on a cruise for TG and I was given 2 options. I wanted to check out what the guys on the forum have to say about these.. pros??? cons???

Both are on Carnival, leaving Ft Lauderdale, 8 days cruise.

opt 1: Western Caribean.
Ft-Lauderdale-
day at sea-
Cozumel Mexico-
day at sea-
Limon Costa Rica-
Colon Panama
day at sea-
day at sea-
Ft-Lauderdale

or
opt 2: Southern Caribbean
Ft-Lauderdale
day at sea
day at sea
St Maarten
St Lucia
St Kitts
day at sea
day at sea
Ft-Lauderdale

What do you think for an easy going family trip???.
We like beaches, and relaxation time.

Personally I would prefer Southern, mainly because I have been to Mexico/central America multiple time and find the cruise spots unexciting. Whereas the southern carribbean island are a pleasure to visit, and much more beautiful.

Default Ncl

We've got the family going on a 9-day one over TG (leaving friday the 20th).

One thing we didn't like on the typical 7 day cruise is that it's really a 6-day, and then 2 or 3 at sea. Just when it I start getting relaxed, the trip is over.

The 9 day should give 8 of 'real' vacation...

We also like the NCL meal plans. No forced time or location. Probably 6 resturants of different styles...

We're doing the Western over spring break On Carnival from MIA.
Miami
Sea Day
Grand Cayman
Cozumel
Roaton
Belize
Sea Day
Miami

With a couple days in FLL/MIA before we go...

I've been to Cozumel but not the 3 other ports and this will cover all of the Western for us...

Then it's off to the Souther Caribbean....We'll probably fly into SJU and cruise from there on Royal Carib?

To answer your question,, I think the Southern will be more laid back..but either cruise is a great one!

Go and have fun.....we're still 150 days out but who's counting!

My first cruise was on NCL. I nver been south, but my parents have. What age is your daughter?

I would choose option 2. Google cruise critic and you can see the reviews of different ships.

I liked the food service on NCL, never did anything else but the slots. I have never been to the islands, so I would not be able to give you anything usefull. 4 year olds are pretty easy to please.

If you choose cruise #2, we will be on that same cruise. We are heading down 2 weeks from today. At this time of the year we like the Eastern or Southern cruises. I like warm water

opt 2: Southern Caribbean
Ft-Lauderdale
day at sea
day at sea
St Maarten
St Lucia
St Kitts
day at sea
day at sea
Ft-Lauderdale

The wife is on Cruise critic (her THT) and has a tour planed in St Lucia already, the other St's were going to wing it. Me, wife and 16yo daughter, this is our 7th TG cruise. She never wants to cook a TG dinner again

Pm me if "she" can answer questions on what she found.

Don't think I could handle 4 "fun days at sea" (what Carnival calls them) since I can't troll off the back. My wife and kids took the cruise that hit Roatan (but from Tampa) and loved it. If we hit the Southern Caribbean, I'd like to leave from San Juan but heard negatives on Cruise Critic about the departures from there.

Trying to pick something for Spring Break and are torn between flying to San Juan or just hitting the Eastern or Western Caribbean.

By all means the Southern Caribbean. St. Lucia and St. Kitts are two of the most beautiful destinations in the Caribbean. Highly recommended. On St. Kitts, you do not want to miss Brimstone Fort. On St. Lucia, most of the sights will be to the lush south toward Soufriere Volcano. But check the local weather and if it's going to be a tropical rainy day that direction, spend the day in the arid north at Pigeon Island. Great snorkeling. St. Maarten has a lot of traffic, thus island tour not recommended. Either go to Pinel Island, take an excursion tour, or just go shopping in town.
