Default For the Animal Folks

You see alot of threads on THT about animals; dogs, cats, varmints, opossums, fish, whales, snakes.

You also see the full spectrum of attitudes regarding animal welfare.

Personally, I'm a pretty conservative guy. I love my truck, my guns, and my animals. This includes opossums and racoons with clams attached to their feet...

Long story short, I read an article in my local paper about a year ago about a woman who's dog was ill, near death, and needed treatment. She couldn't afford to care for the dog and she turned to an organization I had never heard of at the time:

http://www.imom.org

I read the story, visited the site, and started sending a bit of money. I've been laid off twice in the past 12 months, so I could only do $20.00 here and there, but I've done what I could.

Some folks are having a hard time coping (and paying) for unexpected pet medical expenses. If you're not interested, that's okay. If you own a pet, consider what you would do if you were suddenly confronted with a Vet bill beyond your means. This could be any one of us.

Please take a look at the site. Give a few bucks if you can.

Tell all of the people on that site that there is such a thing as pet insurance. I have several friends that have it for their dogs. They tell me it is only a couple hundred bucks a year. That is money well spent if the pet was to be struck by a car, get hip displasia, tears an ACL, ect.

With pets we have had getting hit by cars, organ failure, etc., it can be a devastating time when hard heart breaking decisions have to be made.

Our dog is 13 now. The last one died of, I believe liver failure, while in the Vets care overnight. Everyone thought she was going to make it.

Good info to help animal lovers.
Thanks
