Default It definitely pays to check banking/credit card information online

I'm glad I save receipts if only to cross check the amounts with my online banks as this past weekend, for one of the first times, an ice cream girl from a shop tried to charge me $2.00 more than I had approved. You know those lines they have now added that have the amount, then the "Tip" line, then the final, where if I'm leaving no tip, I write $0.00 then write the total amount so as to make sure I don't get overcharged.

First I try to begin a dispute with AmEx, they say to contact the store/seller first. I call the ice cream store and they tell me to call the credit card company. The good thing was that by the end of the day, AmEx had credited the $2.00 back into my account.

Then the bank that holds my boat loan tries to apply the extra money I put towards the payment toward the interest. I email them to tell them of the error and they try telling me that the payment was correctly applied however, I had to remind them that I had paid the exact same amounts on the exact same days the month before, so "What was the difference." I got an email back today with an apology " . . . for the misunderstanding"

It certainly pays to check and double check when it comes to anything that has to do with money, or one will lose.

Keeping up the good fight,

One day a while back, Verizon had charged me $0.04 cents, four cents. I called and wanted my 4 cents back. I had to figure if they charged all their customers 4 cents, they would make thousands if not millions. I swear . . .

As I had visited the Philippines 3 times in 4 years, it was a national pastime, shorting customers money. If you did not count your change, you lost. It was always a smile and a sorry when I found out.
