Don't you know Ch 64 is the Food network

For the rest of us, Channel 9 for radio checks

9 and 16 are for distress, i would much rather breakup Emeril Lagasse discussion on porkroll samiches and making sure antknee washed his hands then to bother coast guard.

16 - International Distress, Safety & Hailing

64 - UKSAR - Illegal for public use (including recipes)

68, 69, 72, 78 - Ship to Ship

9 - Hailing

So 9, 68, 69, 72, 78 would be appropriate for a Radio Check

Yeah, but does the University of Kentucky really need to use 64 everywhere for their SAR?

64 is united kingdom search and rescue, i think i'm a little out of range for them to pick me up.
i would think any non-commercial non-US govt channel would be suffiocient to see if your hardware is working.

Thanks to Ludicrous and GhostShip. I dug through the reference material and found out Guido means wise guy. I also got my daily dose of freaks and misfits.
