Default Longhorn Steak House

Now I'm seeing these commercials... Anyone been to one of these? Is it the Red Lobster of steak houses?

I guess you could say that. I am not normally a fan of chain restaurants, but they do have some good steak.

They only have "good" steak if you live outside of Iowa If you want the best beef you ever ate call Fareway stores in Iowa any of them and have them ship you their beef. It is all Iowa raised and fed only corn the best beef you will ever buy

get 'em in and out ASAP mentality.

But are they "happy" cows? Only happy cows make California cheese.

Last night I went to a upper end place in Hingham Harbor next to the Old Mill Grill which is probably where I shoulda went... I got the sirlion steak medalions for $28. It came with asparagus and some garlic smashed . If I payed 10 bucks for it I probably would have thought I got what I payed for. Therefore I felt ripped off. Now if I go to his longhorn and pay $15 or something for a steak and think I did get my moneys worth...I'd rather go there. When I'm spending about 25 to 40 bucks for a steak or prime rib.. It better be about the best meal I have ever had or I feel ripped off. When it is among the best ...Its worth every penny.

I stopped ordering steaks at restaurants long ago. I can do much better at home. Unless it is a real high end steak house or a mom and pop restaurant back in the midwest.

There is a Longhorn by my house. I have been to it a few times and it was...ok. I think Outback (also very close to my house) blows them away. If you're going to eat steak at a chain resturant then go to Outback.

Once you wander outside your little world that is Iowa ...

The best beef -- Japanese raised cattle, no question about it. But you are going to pay $200 for a medallion of steak the size of a silver dollar.

Hey, I've eaten at a Longhorn just outside Nashville, and have had really good steaks both times I've been there. In fact, they're one of the few places I've eaten steak where I didn't think I could have cooked it better myself. I got a big porterhouse both times, and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Nothing fast food about it, but maybe it was just that one location.

Now if you want to go have a really mediocre steak that will break the bank, check out Ruths Chris. I can honestly say that I would choose Longhorn over them, even if I had to pay Ruths Chris prices.

Now that's funny, because I eat at Outback all the time and have NEVER gotten a steak worth a damn. Same for prime rib. When I go to Outback, I go for king crab legs or Alice Springs Chicken among a few other entrees, but never steak.

I prefer Longhorn's but don't mind outback. I go once in a while and for $40 (2ppl) it provides for a decent meal. Best in the world? No, but not bad at all.

That's it, I aint goin to jaypan heck it would cost me about $4000.00 for a good steak.

And Kobe beef isn't what it used to be , I'll take the Iowa Beef any day . My Family raises Black Angus in Iowa and I have found none better that doesn't have Saki spit on it.

For a GREAT restaurant steak, try "Ruth Chris's Steakhouse" they are fabulous.

I believe the chain started in Louisiana somewheres. They have one in Troy Michigan and ever since we found it, it has become our special occasion meal.
