Default THIS SUX, new tv out

Well just got home from a week on the coast and walked in and the new tv in our den we bought in Nov is out(73" DLP mitsubishi). Looks like a from what I can tell it is the lamp and of course it is under warranty but that is of NO HELP on the weekends.

Guess I will post a hell of a lot on THT today, never really realize how much tv you watch to the sucker ain't working.

Even thinking of heading up to my office to pick up the one I use there for my teenage driving school and bringing it home today

Guess the boat needs a good cleaning after all the saltwater though

I wondered about that but we were at IOP so I am not sure, nothing else seems to have a problem in the house though

This is a longshot, but here you go:

My father came home recently and his DLP seemed to be shot also. It turns out that the ONE outlet on his surge protector that the TV was plugged into wasn't working anymore. He plugged it into a different outlet on the same power strip and it came up just fine.

Like I said a long shot...but make sure you've checked everything. Good luck.

Thanks but I did get CS at Mitsubishi on the phone yesterday and she had me do several things like that but there is a red light on "lamp" and when I told her that she just told me (in a round about and polite way) SOL and I would have to call another line Monday am and they would get if repaired

Thanks though, sure is boring today and do not feel like taking the LCD unit off the wall in master bedroom to bring into den today, like I said boat needs a GOOD CLEANING

I see those high intensity bulbs fail in as little as 6 months and last as long as about 2 years. It sux to have to put $200 per year into a $1500 TV. For this very reason I recommended to my buddy (a year ago) to buy a old technology rear projection tv. It is a Hitachi high definition but is in a old style big, deep cabinet with 3 crt's and a mirror. They are tv nuts and that thing stays on close to 20 hours a day. I told him if he bought a DLP or LCD projection to be prepared to buy a bulb every other month.

I hope you guys will take this advice from me it could save you alot of money.

This biggest protection against bulbs burning out is a battery backup w/surge.
power pumping on and off shortens bulb life span dramatically, not to mention the
infamous lightining here in florida. ALL of my theatre rooms and tv's with lamps have tripplite battery backups directly wired to the prjector or TV plugged into.

if you are intrested i can get you the model numbers of our two main battery
backups with surge when i get to the office monday.

Glad I don't have to worry about bulbs with my Phlatlight LED DLP from Samsung. That's why I went this route, color accuracy, stability and longevity.

Oh yeah and..... No color wheel! (those go bad too....)

Just had the light engine repaired on my 73" DLP. When this one goes again I'm ditching it for a 50" LCD and I'll just throw the thing away when it breaks out of warranty. Can't believe how cheap flat screens are these days.

I've got 3+ years on my original bulb in a Samsung and have had no problems with it. With that much sponge bob I figured it would have gone a long time ago.

Called Mistusbishi on Monday am and they had the lamp at my door Tuesday when I got home from work. It was as simpleas three screws and slide the old one out and the new one in and tv works great

Still wouldn't think it should go out but at least they got the part to me next day

Good News,, have had Mitsubishi TV's,, for 20 years. They stand
behind there products, unlike others, My mits DLP projector has
worked great. If i have a problem, they will send me another while
they check mine out. They don't have many shops that work on mits,
but the ones they have are the best! Hope everything works out for
you.
