Default Comcast Digital Adapter

Sucks

Any of you guys have it. We have 3 Digital TV's. The one in the family room is connected to the comcast HD DVR box. The other 2 just receive the basic cable service. About a month ago we lost about 5 channels off the basic due to the digital conversion, no big deal. Both of the TV's without the box still get about 20 HD channels off the basic service. Last week we get a notice that we can get 2 free digital boxes from comcast. With these boxes we will get back any channels we lost, great. So I call an order them. The come today, hook them up, call the number to activate them and after about 2 minutes we have a picture of both sets. The problem is, and they don't tell you this when your ordering or in the instructions is the little boxes DO NOT support HD. WTF??? After calling a speaking to some clown he tells me I can get the HD channels back by buying a splitter, that way I can use the splitter and toggle back and forth between (basic with HD) or (the little box without HD). Like that makes a whole lot of freaking sense. OK, my rant is now over.

I don't think there has ever been a company in the history of the world that can compare to the poor customer service that Comcast delivers.

On your digital tv's did you try rescanning the channels before trying the adapters?

You should not need them for a digital tv.

Yes, rescanning did nothing. The point of these stupid little boxes were to give people back some of the "basic" channels that were moved to another tier, or some crap like that. All I know is they must have spent a boat load of money advertising these cable boxes and I think they are completely useless. The only thing is does is show you on the bottom of your TV screen the channel and network. Before for example our local NBC was on channel 10 and the HD version of NBC was 10.2. I talked to two customer service people, the 1st guy did not believe me, I had him go to their web site and tell me what the instructions said. He even admitted the whole thing did not make any sense. I then talked to another guy who told me I need to by a switch if I want to get the HD signals. I told him to put me down for a service call and have Comcast do it. They'll be out Sunday afternoon. I think I just going to buy an HD box off ebay.

As much as I dislike Comcrash, the fact that the 3 free boxes were not HD capable was definitely noted on the mailer they sent out announcing the offer. I had to get the guy in after I tried installing them myself. The big box was improperly coded at Comcast, and one of the small boxes was DOA. It took the service guy an hour to get the office to set up the account at all so it would work.

I just went thru my mailer again, seems they had at least two different ones. My brother read me his and it clearly states the box does not carry HD, mine does not say that.

Oh well, Sh*t happens
