Prepared dinner is priced a little different. Depends on the establishment also. High end places probably will get $22 a lobster cooked just like a steak is $28. If you know a place where you can get a 14 dollar steak I would think you could get a 8.99 lobster dinner.

What is the point of you posting all of these threads? Have you paid 4.50 a pound for lobster in a market in New York? Show me a receipt otherwise stop posting hearsay. I know it does not sell for that here in S.C. You are worse than a you keep coming back.

Got the Admiral one of her favorites, King Crab legs. Getting ready to cook them tonight

I think when we watch Deadliest Catch we both get a craving for them

"What is the point of you posting all of these threads?"

What is my point in telling people where the lobster prices are cheap? I was told that the lobster price in New Yorks China town is $4.50. Everyone always says how expencive lobster is so I was pointing out where it is dirt cheap. Since my last post I was told that Shaws Supermarket in Pembroke Ma is selling lobster for 4.99.

How much is lobster in S. C. if you don't mind me asking???

Still got a couple bags in the freezer from last year so they're free, or $600/lb depending on your accounting technique. I'm thinking that and the last two tuna steaks for tomorrow.

You always start these threads with you were told that the price is this in NY. You never have first hand experience with it being that price. It is repetitive and unnecessary. I pay at my restaurant 19.99 a pound for Maine lobster that is Claw Knuckle and Leg. There is no one telling me that is the price either. I sign for it and cut the check. The local walmart had the price at 12.99 a pound Thursday. I can't buy the Indonesian crap for 4.50 a pound.

[quote=proine17;2312502]You always start these threads with you were told that the price is this in NY.

I start off with that because I'm shocked when I'm told this. Everyone always says how expencive lobster is. Lobster was $22 last night at the restaurant. Steak was anywhere from 24 for prime rib up to $44 for 32oz porter house. So its not that lobster is expencive, people just think it is. I didn't drive to NY to see if lobster was $4.50. I heard that and think that is dirt cheap. Its about 75% less that it was in 1982. I mentioned a super market in Pembroke ma. selling lobster for 4.99 lb. These are unbelievable low prices to me and I can't believe people aren't aware of it. I think people would want to know. I would love to know if some car dealer wwas selling new 4x4 trucks for $5000 or the supermarket up the street was selling porter house steaks for 1.99lb . I'd go buy some! Mothers day lobster for under $20 bucks??? Wow!

OK , I was up the street at the super market and they had lobster for $5.99 lb. Not as low as what I heard but still pretty low for spring lobster.

The tank was empty.

I have purchased seafood at the chinatown open air shops many hundreds of times, I have no doubt that is the price they are charging. Of course, the lobsters sold in chinatown are the smallest legal ones you can get (chix) and the least popular in terms of eating-not much meat in one of those. There used to be an indoor lobster store a bit north of canal where you could purchase the larger ones at a higher price.

Local Shop-Rite here in NJ is $7.99/lb now. We steam 'em live in beer. Never eat 'em in restaurants, tho.

Ummmmmm.That sounds good for shrimp.

I was at the local high end place and four different tables had lobster going to them in the sitting area I could see. $32 for a 1-1/2 baked stuffed.

I got the lobster roll at the supermarket today for $3.99? I don't know why they aren't sold out as fast as they could put them there...Tasted good to me!

The Shaws market is selling them here now for 9.99 for chix and 12.99 for 1-1/2lbs+. This is a store about 2 miles from where the boats land the lobsters and are getting paid $4.00 or less for them. I guess $4 wouldn't be so bad if everything involved in catching lobster was free.
