Default wasp how prevent them from nesting?

I live in a very wooded area/very sunny and they always nest in the gutters and make nests everywhere. You can not hang out around my house cause they are always buzzing around. Is there anything I can spray to Prevent them from nesting/hanging around?? I can't find much on prevention on the internet besides stupid stuff like don't leave food outside.....yeah no sh*t,thanks

I doubt it. I don't think the yard foggers work on wasps. The only effective deterrent I've seen is owning a few peacocks. They walk the eaves of your roof and reach around the gutters under the soffit to eat the wasps.

May not be practical in your area.

Our house sounds like your situation- we have to use the long range wasp sprays.

Is the area where they nest painted white? Here in cajun country sky blue paint on the ceiling of the porch keeps them from nesting there.

We do that in the Carolinas, too. The color is called "haint blue" though there isn't one set color for it. http://www.squidoo.com/haintblue

They give us Southern boys something to kill when it ain't deer season

Wish I knew, I have to keep several spots around my office and my house sprayed/checked for them. At my office they seem to always build nests right around the side door and at home under the deck.

The real fun comes in Aug/Sept when we are getting deer stands ready

Might try cut up pieces of dog flea collars. Where I work, we put them in the wood duck nesting boxes, traffic counter boxes, and the end of pipe gates - never have wasps get in those.

Somebody once told me you could hang moth balls in old panty hose in areas where they nest and they will not build a nest there but never tried that

You rememenber the old fashion 7-up bottles? Find yourself some, put'em around your house hung on string. They'll keep wasp, bees, hornets and snakes away. Or-- Play South Park cartoons round the clock. Or--- Burn'em out!!!!!!!!

The Yellow spray can of wasp and hornet killer works very well...and it shoots far. I forget the brand, but I get a can from Ace hardware every year.

Maybe I need to paint the whole house blue!!! I live in a 80 year old wood frame house, in the middle of the woods and with what I spend on Wasp & Hornet spray over the course of several years, I could afford to paint the entire house. I usually go through 3-4 cases a season between the house, boathouse and shop. I use to not worry about them to much, but it would seem that as I get older I may be developing an alergi. Got popped in the forhead about 2 weels ago, puked my guts out and eyes swollen shut within 20 minutes. One of the many perks of aging.

Don't waste your money on the traps, have tried several different ones with poor results.

I have had the best results with sprays using Bengal Wasp & Hornet, won't keep them away very long, but knocks them down instantly.
