Default Job Loss Map

Here is a multimedia thingy that displays the loss of jobs. Click on the arrow to make it play.

The bigger the circle, the more jobs it represents.
Blue = job gains.
Red = job losses.
The actual job numbers are in blue or red above the map. You can see the change from month to month.

Michigan should be black. As in black hole. Jobs are disappearing like flies in winter. The local social services office tracks total unemployment in our two county area and it running 21% according to the latest available figures. Sucks to be in the Great Lakes state right now.

I think I read that it is based on govt numbers. It would not included under-employed folks, self-employed, or folks that gave up trying to find a job (e.g. husband watches Oprah while wife works).

Then it is purposely misleading, considering our current governmental goofballs.

So, are you saying it is a fabrication and just created to fool the unsuspecting public?

If your theory is that the current administration is quick and clever enough to have manipulated the data for two years before they were elected, you give 'em more credit than I do.

interesting numbers. guess I'll have to pass this along to the guy I just laid off due to lack of work. Or all my friends at church who meet once a week to discuss their recent unemployment (most if not all are people who have never been unempoyed) and any possible job leads. Or to my remaining employees whose benefits I had to cut. I have been in the trades for 30 years and I don't care what that chart says, it has NEVER been this bad before.

No, what I'm saying is, that map is misleading in the sense that one could easily interpret that in red areas, all those jobs have been lost.
For instance, if I read the map as they have it shown, there have been upwards of 200,000 + jobs lost in places where no one even lives and only a few work (Pacific and Atlantic Oceans and the Gulf) !!

Don't get me wrong, I just feel it is not a proper representation of whats going on, thats all. By reading that map, I should be able to find plenty of help, which I'm in need of, in my area. Thats funny, I can't find a single person!! Most people here have jobs.
