Default First Posts here on THT

Has anyone gone back after "X" years here on THT and looked at your first post again?? I did again the other day, and it was a nice bit of nostalgia... Anyone else??

Here is mine.

Post yours, or one you think was a memorable (or remarkably forgettable ) First Post...

Ha . . . here goes

Was in the midst of ordering the Raymarine SL1250RC combo FF chart plotter, which is designed to handle a 1000 watt transducer when I was told that Raymarine only sells up to 600 watt transducers . . . which would not use the full capacity of the new unit.

Was suggested (told) to find a third party 1000 watt transducer.

Any suggestions as to where I could find an appropriate transducer and anything special that I should be looking for? Thanks in advance.

In the end I bought a Furuno system after receiving lots of info from everyone on THT

i currently own a 1976 montauk 17 that needs to be repowered (replacing a rebuilt 1983 evi). it's missing the pilot seat; all of the orginial teal/mahogany has been replace with marine plywood (!) by the previous owner. the gel coat is in pretty sad shape. i bought it a few years ago with the silly dream of restoring it, but just have not had the time.

bottomline: i want a boat that runs, not a boat restoration hobby. for the $10K plus that my montauk needs, i can invest in a new boat that should require much less maintenance.

i'm considering a new 18-20 center console for running around on the magothy river, and chesapeake bay on the days when i won't get beat up by the chop. boats that i've researched include:
- seacraft and mako (bps is just up the road from me; neither of these boats sound as good as they once were)
- sea hunt (better reviews than i expected)
- angler (probably ain't gonna cut it)
- mckee (promising)
- edgewater (pretty pricey)
- sea chaser (nice price, but is the quality there?)

i welcome any and all thoughts based on your experiences with these types of boats.

thanks!

it's pretty funny how things can change. i ended up repowering the montauk (still not completely restored) then waited 2 years before buying the marlago...

I did that a while back. It was tough to narrow down the first post as I made quite a few the week I joined.
