Default Is Your HS Field This Bad?

The signs of the times,no money for improvements let alone repairs our city's football stadium is falling apart.Yet during the football season friday nights it's packed ! The restrooms were condemed a few years ago and they have to set-up porta-potties game days. This field was once listed in the Guiness Book of Records as the only stadium built below sea level!

Jay, is that the track that the HS uses? How could anyone run on that?

I agree that the field and track look to be in terrible condition but those stands are better than what we have just down the road in Lynnfield.

Have you been to the the artificial turf field at the new North Andover High School? That's a beautiful facility.

The track team is playing all their meets on the road this year because of the condition of the track! I did get some good news. A company that is working with the NFL Grassroots Grant Program contacted me today. They are willing to install a new turf system! This turf uses no crushed rubber in it's product and claim it's more durable and more life-like than the field turf being used now in the NCAA & NFL. And it's eco-friendly!
Depending on a grant this could be a great deal for this cash strapped city.
They are sending me more info and when I get it I'll be heading to the Mayor's office.

Jay

Could you let me know the contact for that Grant program. Looking to get some ideas for a sports field for some local youth/club teams.

I got to thinking about this the other day, and in 12 years of public school, I never once took a dump in any of school bathroom due to the deplorable conditions of broken plumbing and unbelievably bad smell. And don't get me started on some of the teachers: horrible, at best.

So are SC schools that bad? Yeah..I'd say so. I'd guess they've improved some in 20 years, or at least I would hope. But we still have the stupidest teenagers in America, with the SAT scores to prove it. We used to say "thank goodness for Mississippi", but I don't think we can even say that any more.

Thanks

Now I just have to see if we can get people to empty some of the deep pockets for the youth of the town. Our HS track is rocks and dirt,no track team will come to our track so all meets are away.

The turf company sent me a package today containing samples and a Powerpoint CD proposal. In turn I presented to our Mayor and Chief Administrative Officer the package and they both were excited about the possibilities of getting this done. The U.S. Turf Company is proposing to install it @ their cost and with possible grant money from the NFL. This could be a great deal for the community! When I sent the turf company an e-mail telling them I presented their package to City Hall I mentioned I was tempted to use the sample in my yard to cover up some holes my dog dug! They responded by offering to convert my yard with their synthetic turf for free....with the promise to take them fishing!!! I don't know about the yard but they are welcomed to go fishing anytime!
