Default Great service by Costa Del Mar

I was looking to purchase a new pair of Costa's since my old triple tails had some age along with a LOT of wear and tear on them.

Mine were missing the logo on one side and the frames were chipped but they were still very useable.

I was readiing their web site and even though mine were not in warranty(think I have had them at least 6 years or more) they will repair them for $9.95 shipping plus repair costs. Well I thought what the hell so I file a repair request and got a shipping label and sent them to them.

I got an email when they got my triple tails and then another to ask me if I wanted to spend $31.95 to repair them since they were not under warranty and confirmed with them that was fine.

Well last night when I got home from work I had a small box sitting on the table and Costa had sent me a BRAND NEW PAIR of triple tails, total cost $43 bucks or so. I am sure that is their cost in the glasses but I thought that was great customer service

Found Costa's about 8 years ago- the BEST glasses out there - blow away Maui Jim's in my opinion - I have only gotten the wave 580's and when people try them on they are shocked at the clarity - I have not used service, but great to hear they stand behind such a great product.

I would agree. My son broke his lens in Mexico this past February, he's a college student (poor) and bought them at the Pirates Cove BF tournament last year with his own money. He was almost devistated that they were broke. He bought some cheapo's and went on with life on the advice from other that it would cost a fortune to repair them. I took them and filled out the repair form and sent them to CD. Got a box back fully repaired...no cost. Thats what I call service.

Now that's what I call service and Liza is in touch with the customers!
I have never wanted to spend a lot of money for glasses because I can loose and or break them as fast as I can the less expensive ones but this post and Liza's response will have me giving them another look.

Great news. I've got a pair in need of repair in a box now that I miss quite a bit and have not sent back because of the reports of poor service.

I'm going to send them for repair now and I'll report back with the results.

Hopefully there has been a change for the better.

Alright men, and ladies, looking at the Costa del Mars at my local Boaters World. As everyone knows they are going out of business. Maybe this is my chance to get a pair. With all the different models and styles out there can I get some advice on what you like and why? I thought I read somewhere, don't know if it was here or not, most fisherman seemed to agree on one or two pairs that stood out from the rest.
I fish the Upper Chesapeake Bay, stripers and bass mostly. Thank you.

Edit:
Found some other post but if someone want to add their .02 please do.

Any of them, all of them. Really. I look good in everything so I really don't understand this problem with having to choose one over the other.

Where are all those who bashed CDM a few weeks ago? I have always had great service from Costa, and they have some of the best sunglasses out there, IMO.
Liza, your company is OK in my book.

I don't think this thread is about bashing CDM; it's about quality service tprice received from them.

Yup, Great service, last year my dog decided out of everything on my desk to chew she liked the taste of a 450 dollar check and my brand new pair of hammerheads with the green 580's.......

I mailed them to costa, i was going to mexico for a billfish deal in 2 weeks, they called me and since my dog ate my frames i only paid for the new frame........i sent them out on a friday and they were at my doorstep the next friday. Great Product, and Great company, mind you this was in the middle of summer when they are hammered with repairs. Very happy customer here, and i will always wear Costa's

Thank you all, for your positive comments! It's great to see happy customers out there, although we try to do anything we can to help unhappy customers with any issues they're having.
I try to monitor this board frequently, but if you ever don't hear from me, you can always e-mail me directly at costadelmar.pr@gmail.com. Laurie Fontenot is another Costa team member who's here to help out with customer issues, so if you ever hear from her, I just wanted you to know she works with us, too!
Thanks again for all of your support - we love working with you!

I have had a horrible service with Costa Del Mar. Denied warranty and $99 to replace one cracked glass 580 lense. Shades were 6 months old and overall in mint condition with no other blemishes. I told them to send them back to me. $9.99 for "processing" is also too much.

I do not believe Liza is actually with CDM. Seems the outsource PR support.
Not sure if this matters to anyone as long as CDM offers great support.
Just FYI

She did say she works "with," not for. Just pointing that out. If she's under contract with CDM... that's close enought for me.

Anyway, I've been more than happy with my CDM Fathom's. I returned a pair for repairs after 2 years... paid shipping only & got a brand new pair in a couple of weeks. One of my nose-pieces fell off... apparently I sweat laquer thinner.

The 580 lenses are by far the best there are IMO. I tried several brands including Maui Jims, but found that the 580's far superior. I do think that MJ's generally have it over on CDM's on appearance though... especially for wearing in a business environment. Guess it's one of those form vs. function arguments.

Well, since she registered as 'Costa Del Mar' and not as 'Liz whoever' I think it is indeed a bit deceptive -- both of Liz whoever and of Costa Del Mar.

Good catch, Ray Zor!!!

Good service is good service -- bad service is bad service. Seems with CDM it is one or the other, not much in between. ;?
