Default Lobster price CRASHING

Boat price fell below 6 bucks a pound today to the boats. The dealers are blaming the Canadians for the death spiral priciing. Nobody is even catching anyaround here! Price will probably be 5 bucks to the boat by the end of the week.

Good luck to you lobster eaters here. You'll have a unheard of spring price at the market in a week or so!

Calais is at the ass end of the world (IMHO)...northeast Maine, population about 2800, right on the border with Canada...over 90% of that population is on Maine Care (Welfare),...took a locum tenems assignment their for 8 weeks...never, ever, again.

With lobster prices the way they are I'm surprice 99% of Maine residents aren't on welfare. That must mean 10% of the people in Maine have nothing to do with the lobstering business...

Lobster prices are still OUTRAGEOUS outside of New England. They are still $16 - $18 a pound here in Boise, Idaho, for example.

I am convinced that demand is present, but price closes the market.

If a person here was to make a deal with a large capacity pound in Maine to ship a load here, one day a week, and sell them for $9 a pound, they would sell out every week. If people knew they could get lobsters for a reasonable price, they would plan and buy at the once a week option.
