Default Place to elope in the con US?

Finally going to do the deed. Better half doesn't want a wedding.
We decided to elope. We don't gamble or drink so vegas doesn't interest us much. Our budget is pretty slim. Looking to spend less than $3000. Looking for any suggestions on places to visit. I would like some where with historic value or nice sights to see. Would like to spend our money in the US. Any suggestions appreciated!

Key West, St. Augustine, Amelia Island or St. George Island - Florida

Charleston, Hilton Head - S.C.

Savannah - Georgia

Wilmington - N.C.

Second the Charleston idea, or you could come on over to Savannah and spend some time downtown in the historic district. Savannah just had Mandy Moore swing through and get married under the radar.

I'm partial to Charleston SC as well. If interested give me a shout and I'll give you some ideas on places to stay and eat. Day trip to Savannah , Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head, ....

My mom and sister just got back from the badlands and said that was very very nice as well. They did a sort of driving tour, staying in a differet town every night for about two weeks.

Washington DC is a great place to visit as well - all politics aside - there is a tremendous amount of stuff to see...

My suggestion would be either Charleston or Key West. My wife and i really enjoyed Boston but not sure if i would go there to elope. What time of year will you be traveling?

I think he said he only wanted to spend around 3 grand. The wife and I have been to Little Palm Island and it was much more than 3 grand.

Take a cruise! I got married on a Carnival cruise ship. We spent some money and had about 150 people but they offer a lot of different packages.

The way it works is this. You get married on the ship at the port so you can have whatever guests you want to attend. Then your guests leave the ship and you and your new bride go on the cruise.

The wedding itself was about 45 mins then we had a full catered reception in one of the ships night clubs with DJ, open bar, full buffet, ice sculptures and all. It was a lot of fun, we even had two other couples book on the cruise so we had a nice crew for the 7 days. We had a killer balcony cabin.

The entire wedding/cruise package was surprisingly affordable. And these days the cruises are priced right.

What's funny is Florida is 3 day wait OR 4 hour class for residents, but no waiting for non-residents.

My late bride and I eloped to Rocky Mount, NC back in 1967...New York State has an archaic law that says a woman 18 years and older can get married without parental permission, but a man UNDER 21 needs parental permission...do the dee in Rocky Mount, and then head for the Outer Banks.

Gmak,

Congrats! Have you ever been to northern CA? My wife and I wanted to go to Europe for our honeymoon 5 years ago, but the prices were through the roof. Instead, we flew to San Francisco and took the coastal route up through the state and ended in Seattle, WA. We stayed in a small place called Mendocino and it was just plain gorgeous. The views of the Pacific are amazing and you have a lot of privacy. There is a lot to see in the area.

Wherever you go, though, you will love it.

Best,

Charlie
