The idea is just to seat the tire so it can be inflated, though.

I have done that before for my atv tire....works well.

Ether is used on tubeless big truck tires but you throw the match at it laying on the shop floor. It will jump about 3-4 feet.

I've inflated wheel barrel tires like that using Starting Fluid.
Works great!
