Default Very old users, with very few post????

Is it me??? I've been noticing lately, some very old users with very few posts and got me thinking...what gives???

Never bought on that "more posts" = credibility theory, but it got me thinking how it could be that there's peopled who for example registered in 2005 and all the sudden they make their first post today on a non-boating relate thread...

First I noticed it on the Bilge, and didn't pay too much attention, but I just saw it again on the Dockside chat...

Saw it several times, not just a couple, but wouldn't remember the names

What it's your take on this??

Yep, I just made my first post on THT in over a year and noticed my count was 1.

Look at my join up date - 2005. I posted a lot back then.

Oh well, maybe I was considered a renegade when IB took control and stripped me of my rank.

Noooo....something happened in the change over. The mods explained it somewhere but I forget where. No biggie. I would rather the post count not be shown anyway. I remember when the "post count hall monitor" squad would jump the case of any new poster and question their intentions.

Since you are mentioning... you were the one that lead me to post this... but didn't meant anything against you personally... just got my attention.
for example there was a user C at one of the A1 thread that was also registered in 2002 (I think) and his first post was in this A1 bashing thread in 09.... thats weird

Yes, I think the same.... though some one post wonders are very suspicious some times... I give them the benefit of the doubt...

I think back in the day Wiley had a feature that you could use to hid your post count. During the Big Switch that funtion was deleted. I noticed it when Tireless posted something and it had his post count at 1 right after the switch.

I agree.

I see no valid reason to have the post count listed (other than maybe building some sort of "ego" boost for some folks?)

Like a high post count has anything what-so-ever to do with the quality of those posts.

You could have 1 or 10,000 posts and still ask a quality question or response.

Or the opposite...

Often those that talk the most have the least to say.

When I first saw your post about 'very old users', I thought you were referring to me (71).

I think that members register a few usernames, and then use them for there convenience. Such a defending their company that gets dissed on the forum.
