Default Software Upgrade ?

I know there has been a lot of discussion about Vista over XP and how Vista is basically garbage. Well it is to my understanding the Vista version everyone talks about is a 32 bit o/s and not he 64 bit o/s. So my question is, is the 64 bit Vista o/s just as crappy as the joe-blow 32 bit o/s? Or is the 64 bit o/s a far more stable o/s without all the hassles?

The reason you do not hear much about the 64 bit version of Vista is that there is very little software available to the average computer user in 64 bit versions, thus it is my understanding that only a few techno business's are using the 64 bit version.

Due to software manufacturers reluctance to produce 64 bit software, it is my guess that the next generation of Windows (called Midori? or Sharepoint? - I've read conflicting reports on the name), due to be released in the first quarter of 2010 will be also be available in 32 and 64 bit versions. It has been reported that this next generation of Windows will, like XP, be more user friendly.
